I'm still puzzled why any lone adult would want to holiday in a dedicated family environment..

I've stayed at Butlins alone several times, because it is good value and in the location I need to be in. Why would there be an issue with that?

I think the main reason for this is from a safeguarding perspective.
haven is very much family orientated, and therefore doesn't want a certain type of single male or female coming to their parks and getting kicks from all the children around!
I'm in no way labelling all singles in this way nor saying that I agree with it but I'm pretty sure that's the reason. They also don't allow any single sex groups with no children at Haven or many other holiday parks like Park Resorts, ParkDean etc, mainly to avoid groups of youths having full on party weekends in their caravans. (Pontins do allow it though!)
This means that a gay couple also couldn't stay there, but a gay couple with children would be fine.
There are lots of other holiday parks more suited to singles/adults that offer the same facilities, entertainment etc that would accept you.

    You don't get p*edophile couples?

I'd be genuinely interested in their explanation on this policy!

Haven wouldn't allow a group of 8 males or 8 females either, when you go through to the final stages it asks for names, I'm pretty sure I've seen it in the terms and conditions too

In theory 4 gay couples or 4 lesbian couples couldn't all book to stay in the same caravan as then it would be a same sex group, but two gay couples and two lesbian couples could go on holiday together in the same caravan and that would be allowed. Not sure whether anyone has ever challenged this or if the conditions would be upheld though.

Of course you do, and I'm not saying I agree with the policy at all but that's the reason why they have it. A lot of theme parks and family attractions also have the same rule. I'm sure legoland had an issue a few years back as they wouldn't let a single male in without children but can't be certain and it was in the papers as being sexist etc.

So they're happy with a p*edo convention but not a single one? You must see that what you're saying is nonsensical?

Edit - the Legoland policy bans anyone without children, not just single people.

They have to be a bit careful, they wouldn't want - for example - a party of Roman Catholic priests, I wouldn't have thought ;)
Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.
