I think the main reason for this is from a safeguarding perspective.
haven is very much family orientated, and therefore doesn't want a certain type of single male or female coming to their parks and getting kicks from all the children around!
I'm in no way labelling all singles in this way nor saying that I agree with it but I'm pretty sure that's the reason. They also don't allow any single sex groups with no children at Haven or many other holiday parks like Park Resorts, ParkDean etc, mainly to avoid groups of youths having full on party weekends in their caravans. (Pontins do allow it though!)
This means that a gay couple also couldn't stay there, but a gay couple with children would be fine.
There are lots of other holiday parks more suited to singles/adults that offer the same facilities, entertainment etc that would accept you.

I notice they do not allow bookings from single people....Surely if you can pay, thats all that matters?

I suspect that they think that single people are nonces and weirdos.

You could do that, but why should you have to?

What's the reason behind the discrimination, is it because one person isn't going to spend as much on the park?

    You don't "have to"

There's plenty of holiday places in the UK if you don't like the policy of one company - book at one you do.

These are family parks and it's pretty obvious why they have the policy so book somewhere that doesn't regard every lone holidaymaker wanting to stay at a park full of children as an potential threat.

Out of interest as a singleton, why do you want to go to a family orientated holiday park.?
It's the last place I would be thinking of going to, if I was looking to go away alone!
Plenty of other options for you. I agree with their policy..
  • I'm confused my everyone's comments on single people?

The rule is about solo travelers and nothing to do with relationship status. A group of a 8 adults could book with no kids and all be single and lecherous as long as they dont mind bed sharing.

Didnt go all the way through the booking process but to the point I got to for 8 adults no kids there has been no asking of gender to see if its a single sex group or mixed but they'd be on thin ice if they allowed 4 hetrosexual couples to stay together but banned 4 homosexual couples.

Its their choice to block solo travelers but either invite a friend along or claim a friend is coming along, arriving later than you and ultimately is a no show

I don't know if they take phone bookings, but you certainly can't book online.
If you fill in the booking info with "one adult, no children" a pop up window appears which says they don't let with single occupancy, and you can't proceed...you would have to lie and put 2 adults to be able to book.

Yes - but there are no sites out of the UK on that website, so how could we book them?

These parks often run special offers with red top newspapers, so seems like good advice.

  • I'm still puzzled why any lone adult would want to holiday in a dedicated family environment..

Some of these parks are in good locations with great views and walks nearby and they can be great value for money, they can be dog friendly which is a major bonus.

I wouldn't :rotfl: those places fall firmly in my "worst nightmare" category, along with cruises and group tours. I'd much rather stay at home than go on any of these.
