Air Con Vs Climate Control

I was watching the 'used car' show on itv4 a few weeks ago and someone was saying that if you had the chance go for a car with climate control instead of air conditioning. I can't remember why he said this but i think it may have been to do with reliability. I know that climate control is superior because you can set the temp of the cabin with it and is useful at any time of the year not just hot days but isn't aircon part of c control? Maybe I heard it wrong so perhaps someone here can suggest what they think of the merits of the one against the other?

probably to do with efficiencies I guess, as aircon is manual controlled the likely scenario in hot weather say is:

    on full blast
    gets cold, turn down
    gets too hot
    on full blast
    gets cold, turn down
    gets too hot
    on full blast
(this is probably also further affected by the front seat passengers being the 'climate control', i.e. with it being cold in the front, the rear may still be warmer)

etc. climate control instead is , initial blast, then small minor changes to retain temperature within cabin as a whole rather than front or rear only

    only a gues sthough

Climate all the way, set a temperature and let the car adjust the cabin temperature until it is at your set temp.

Air con will only cool the air, not warm it in winter.

For that, there is a heater. ;)

I can set my air con to warm........defrosts the windows quicker in the winter and you don't get condensation because the air is dry...and mine has an auto button on it, you set the temp and if the car gets warmer it gives a blast then adjusts it's own speed.

I have mine on all the time as well...I've tried a week's driving with it off and a week with it on and had no difference in fuel consumption so I just leave it on auto all the time.
