hi all,
I am wondering about the rules/regulation pertaining to PAC. Are mobile providers bound to provide a PAC when you request for it?
I am in the process of terminating my contract, but I have not completed the minimum term (12 months). I have requested to terminate at the end of the month and had requested a PAC, but was told that i will not be given the PAC, as i am leaving my 'contractual obligations' early.
I would really like to keep my existing number, as i have been using it for the past 3 years. i was told that i have 2 weeks to decide if i want to keep my number (by staying with my provider) or lose my number when i terminate.
I am beginning to feel that its sort of a ploy to try and pressure me into keeping the useless contract.
Is there any regulation which states that PAC must be provided when requested?
Thank you all in advance

i can't imagine there will be a problem if you pay your remaining line rental to the end of the contractthings arent the way they were before, you wouldnt even recognise me anymore- not that you knew me back thenMercilessKiller wrote: »BH is my best mate too, its ok
I trust BH even if he's from Manchester..
all your base are belong to us :eek:0 -
whats the reason you want to leave that network? you can transfer your number to another network although it does take a while
also, what is a PAC code? sorry for being thick but if its what i think it is then you might be able to gt round it0 -
PAC - Porting Authority Code
What network you with?
Some networks may ask you to pay the final months in advance then they can provide PAC, if you do they legally cannot refuse to provide u with the pac code0 -
i'm with Orange. i am actually terminating due to the 07744 numbers, so i will terminate without having to pay the remaining months. (they checked and found that 80% of my calls are to those numbers)
so you really do need to pay up to get a PAC?
can i ask them to move the number to an Orange sim instead??0 -
Orange don't normally charge for a PAC and yes you could request that they send you a PAYG SIM. When you receive this SIM, they will transfer your contract number to it on registration. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0
