So, my broadband router and youview box came today, and phone is due to be connected on Friday. Youview box is all fine but there are no BT sport channels on it; now, am I to assume that these will only work when it is hooked up to my BT broadband, which is due to be activated on Friday?

Also, the email says that the engineer will need access to the bt connection point in the building. Phoned the management company and they've no idea what or where it is. Is that just the phone socket that is in my flat?0

Yep they need access to your master socket, that will be in your flat. If there isn't a socket/line they will install one as part of the job.0 -
Sounds silly but I don't actually need a phone for them to set it all up? They're only messing around with the line, right?
I take it the broad band won't work if they can't set up the phone line?0 -

Do you know whether your phone point is "live" -it's possible that it is not connected to the BT network which is why the engineer may need access to some form of building distribution system, to ensure you have a line back to the local BT cab. Not all flats are connected to a live line ....personal experience with an aged relative.:):)0 -

That's the problem, I have no idea. All I know is I have a phone socket in my flat and that there has been a connection in the building in the past, other than that I've no idea. Any idea how to find out? Apparently the management company don't know!0 -
This is all very interesting as i am debating whether to change my current provider to BT and just been on phone to lady at BT. I feel this could get messy too as i have no idea what i have to do. I will follow this post closely0
