  • It went missing on it's way back to you? Refund the customer and claim from Hermes.

You're going to have to refund buyer and claim from Hermes. It's not your buyers fault that Hermes have (claimed to have) lost the parcel.

no... ok my hermes tried three times to deliver the parcel, the buyer did not collect, so after three attempts hermes should return parcel to me... however on its return journey the idiots have lost it.

i cant be responsible for the customer not being in three times, nor the fact they didnt go pick the parcel up or contact hermes for re delivery. ive fulfilled my part of the contract by posting, with tracking. they didnt collect.

Um,I think you will find its the cold hard facts.
You chose a courier that reattempts & returns. You chose the carrier so if they lost it.
Its your job to deal with the courier.

Due to health and safety regulations we do not currently allow customers to drop-off or collect parcels from our depots.

    Q. Does the customer have their item?

    A. No.

Therefore you need to refund in full. If you don't ebay will.

I think that you'll find that you will only have fulfilled your part of the contract once the goods have been delivered to your buyer and the buyer has accepted those goods.
