Because its an expensive way to, in effect, rent a car. That too, low end French cars. If there is nothing wrong with your existing car, keep it. Case closed.

What would be a cheaper way to rent a new car?

Why do you want to get rid of the Leon? If it still works, I would suggest saving your money until you afford to buy without a loan.

I admit there really is nothing wrong with the Seat - i understand this is a want rather than a need situation but i just fancied the DS3 to treat myself getting something abit newer.
My current Seat is a 55 plate, so car is now 10 years old.

For the first time in my life im finding i am having a little surplus money each month so thought i would be able to afford taking on a newer car.

I dont have enough savings to buy one outright, hence where i came to the idea i could budget around £160 a month to get one - and both the bank loan scenario and also the PCP scenario come under the £160 budget that i feel i can afford.

Why would anyone's heart be set on a French Citreon diesel? aim higher boy
ChumLee stop stalking and trying to attack my every post. This is now bordering on bullying
neil.woos - can you see the irony?!. This is a thread about a Citroen diesel, which you don't like. You have nothing to contribute here.
Also, I hope you understand that Mini and DS3 share platforms and engines. So really this French crap is actually premium German stuff!

I've never been a fan of Minis anyway. Only thing I like about them is that they have decent build quality for a small car.

A car being 10 years old doesn't mean anything. Being 55 plate doesn't really mean a car is 'old'. By your own admission, there is NOTHING wrong with your current car so why get rid of it? You say you want to treat yourself to a newer car but why? You aren't exactly upgrading a huge amount from your Seat. Unless you wanted a convertible, nice coupe, a performance car why do you want to 'upgrade'?

Seems to me you are more worried about the age of your car and want to keep up with your friends who are all on PCP. Completely foolish.

I went to UCL, studied Mechanical Engineering, MEng. However, I work in finance (management consultancy). No I don't think I'm a high flyer. If I were I would have got into companies like Mckinsey or Bains or even in Investment Banking in M&A or Structuring. I'm just your run of the mill typical Big Four grad

Studied engineering and went into finance. That figures I guess you failed your degree as most engineers would know what a drum brake is. ;)

Like you... The general public doesn't actually know what a proper Engineer is. No, we aren't mechanics (an we aren't the boiler repair men or the guy who fits your Sky TV box; they're actually technicians but that's another matter) and we never really did much 'hands on' practical work. Most of our modules were mathematics/physics and computer science based modules. All theory.

And FYI A LOT of engineers go into finance/investment banking, though mainly attracted by the money. Our numerical skills (something you seem to lack) are highly valued in the financial industry.

His car isn't real, his job isn't real, his degree isn't real...is he even real? Can anyone prove Darkmatter even exists?

Much like all of the 'knowledge' you profess to possess, and the fantasy garage. All 'theoretical'... and 99% wrong.
