I don't allocate anything, but probably spend on average £10 a week on non-budgeted shopping list food/haircut etc.

No regular allowance here either - again probably around £10 each week on 'stuff' ;)

OH & i generally have £20 a week each, she smokes & i don't,so her money is more or less spoken for. We pay £650 a month towards our debts & if we do overtime we split the extra money 50/50 between our debts & ourselves. That way we find that the more overtime we do,the more cash we get to ourselves & the more we cash we get to pay off our debts. OH has done well to cut down from 20 a day to 10 a day,as she knows that she cannot afford to spend over £20 on ciggies every week.

I dont actually have a budget. I put 10-15 pounds worth of petrol in my car when it needs it, but I dont spend more than about 40 pounds a month on that.

I cut my own hair- its really curly so no one can tell the difference and I think I have spent maybe 50 pounds on clothes in the last 15 months. I try to have as many NSDs as possible to minimise the spending but if there is something I really need to do, like meet a friend for lunch and I havent seen them in ages then I can justify that.

Basically I am too disorganised to have an allowance :o

I budget for items I buy all the time like weekely magazine at £1.99 and the collection at a meeting I attend so I do not count this as part of my money.

I normally give myself £10 a week in cash and do not carry any other money or credit cards. I normally stick to this buy only having coffee once or twice a week or planning when Im going to go out for dinner. If I dont spend the entire amount one week I allow myself to roll it over and last weekend I went out for a meal with some friends and was able to stay within my budget ;)

Its amazing how you adapt when you do not have credit cards in your wallet and only withdraw the money from the machine once a week. Long may it continue

A £10er will do me for a week, monday to friday, not including fuel or wkends. But usually after household bills and debt repayment after payday i have the equivalent of £50-£80 a week left over. That's not to say I have a weekly budget of £50-£80 if you see what i mean, i just divide the remainder after bills etc by four to see if i am likely to struggle this month.

I try to stick to £15/week, that includes 2 nights out, (3 drinks max between both nights) and lunches for work, whether i buy, or make a packed lunch. normally stick to it now I've had a spend diary for the past 2 months.

One of the best trhings I did was the spend diary, it makes me think twice, and sometimes 3 times before I spend anything.

  • Me and OH have £50 per week between us. Sometimes we go over, sometimes under (depending on how good we feel). This covers birthday pressies, and any other expenses we don't pay every month.
