how would you know if your waters popped in the bath

  • With my first the midwife broke them manually to "get things moving along" & I felt as if I was deflating quickly inside, but didn't hear anything! As that labour eventually progressed to a C-section (after 27 hours) my second birth was a planned C-section.

However, I went swimming with a friend the day before her due date (the kind of girl who is NEVER late for anything :rotfl: ). She seemed fine & got herself & her 19th month old dressed etc. & we went home. Her husband rang the next day to say she'd delivered on her due date, promptly at 9.17 am! When I went to see her she said her waters must have broken in the swimming pool, as when she went into hospital the midwife told her off for not going in earlier & for not telling them that they had broken! She honestly didn't have a clue - didn't feel anything as she was wet already, & they must have gone in a huge rush, as she didn't continue to "leak"!

Guess it can happen - she's a bit of a control freak & didn't think she'd miss something so "obvious"... She's also the only girl I know who has had 3 kids all on their due dates!
& as for some happy ending I'd rather stay single & thin :D

I had the same as a few of you - the water just kept coming! For ages! I also think it was the loud pop that woke me up rather than any feeling but I might have imagined that......

good luck all you pregnant ladies! Hope it's easy for you

  • Definately felt like an elestic band breaking in the small of my back. It happened at 4am where my OH was rubbing my back. I still think about it whenever he rubs that area even now nearly 10 years later!

The other two times I was in labour so didnt notice through the contractions.

:o I must be tired And read the title too quick but I thought you asked- How would you know if you POOPED in the bath:eek:
As for waters going I felt it so you will know don't worry. I'd been taken into hospital the week before because I was paractically immobile due to terrible SPD. I flobbed over in bed (unable to roll) and felt my waters GO, beepd the midwife who came straightaway and said I THINK I'VE HAD AN ACCIDENT??? (no I don't know why I said that) midwife said not to worry we'll get your sheets changed (thought I'd pee'd the bed:rotfl: )so I said no I think it's my waters, they managed to get me out of the bed and it was still gushing from my bits:o, it was the talk of the staffroom apparently, no one had ever seen so much of the stuff.
Never been told why that was I suspect it might have been to the undiagnosed cardiomyopathy I nearly died from a week later. Anyhow all fine now and got my gorgeous dd to show for it.
Hope you don't have to wait too much longer till your beautiful babe put's in an appearance Dollop, good luck and best wishes.
    Booo!!!

I haven't got the foggiest idea when my waters broke! Maybe they went in the bath, maybe down the loo. When I got to hospital the midwife said they hadn't broken and wanted to break them to speed things up but I refused. Four hours later Junior was born to her great surprise, she was so convinced it would go slowly she didn't examine me again

Junior had a chest infection when he was born and they complained at me that it must be because my waters had broken days earlier allowing infection to set in, and that I should have come into hospital earlier

I'm sure it will all be fine for the OP, there are plenty of other signs that labour has started. At least breaking your waters in the bath is better than in the dog food aisle in Tesco ;)

My waters didn't pop, however everytime I had a contraction a tiny bit leaked out, when I got to the hospital the midwive had a feel to see how far I had dilated and she managed to make my waters gush out! So I'm sure you would at least notice something had happened which wasn't quite normal!
