Talktalk - moving house to Republic of Ireland

Options
Hi,

I'm trying to get out of my Talktalk contract (don't want to bore everyone with the details). I live in N.Ireland right on the border with ROI.

As Talktalk do not operate in ROI, does anyone know what their response to a house move to ROI is, as a few people have mentioned this to me as a way of getting out of contract with them?

Will they ask for some kind of proof? Or will they do some kind of follow up on my address to see if I have actually moved house?

Thanks for any help on this.......

Your choice to move and any ISP will require you to pay up your contract .
If the ISP provides to a new house they will usually allow you to transfer with a new contract .

See identical posts for a repeat of the answer .

From the tone of the OP's question, I think the OP is hoping to avoid paying an ETC by claiming that he or she is moving to the RoI in the hope that, because TalkTalk does not offer a service there, TalkTalk will waive the ETC.

OP is choosing to move to a place that TT does not supply ,
OP took out a lawful contract at current address not a mobile contract at any address .

Can always ask the ISP will they terminate the contract without charge due to moving abroad .
  • Thanks for the replies.

Just to clarify, I would be hoping to get out of the contract without paying up. As the 'house move' would be to an area where Talktalk do not operate, I'm trying to sus out what their response would be.

As said they may let you off .
I would go with the firm is moving me and hope for the best but be prepared to pay the contract off .
Usual is you pay its your contract you are cancelling .
Bankrupt or death will void the contract with no penalty .

    HI Kevin,

Rather than suss it out, I can give you an official reply. From a legal perspective, JJ is right. By the terms of the agreement an ETC would apply, as we (TalkTalk) are not the ones ending the contract, it is a result of your home move.

However, what you need to do is to speak to the home movers teams directly. They will be the ones who actually process the cancellation of your services. If you explain the situation to them they have the discretion to waive an ETC if they feel it is warranted.

    Cheers
