Parking on front of shop.
Options
Hi All,
I own a shop in Wigan on a main road and it has a small parking space on the front of it which I also own.
A young lad has moved in across the road and has started parking his car there out of hours.
However I needed to load my car on Sunday evening and couldn't get near the place so having had back surgery I wasn't going to carry all the stuff any distance so I didn't bother.
I've turned up at work this morning and the car was on the front again. I could only just get through the door of the shop so I popped a note on his windscreen to ask it he would not park there again. It read "Will you please not park on the front of the shop as it is private land and 24 hour access is required".
When he eventually turned up I went out of the shop and asked him POLITELY if he would not park there and explained that I couldn't load my car on Sunday evening and that I could hardly get into the shop this morning.
He just sat in his car smoking his cigarette and said no I wont stop because you didn't say please (which I did!) so ring the police and get him moved. I'm pretty sure that the police won't move him so am not going to go down that route.
At this point the conversation deteriorated and he threw the note at me through the window and wheel spinned off the front of the shop.
Just after some advice if there is anything that I can do? other then build a wall maybe.
Cheers in advance.
Dave.
Link below, hopefully link works to show the shop front (which is about to be re-done so does look a mess!!).

Agree with Rogue. You can't reason with ignorant people so you will need to protect your space. There are lots of options for this.Je suis sabot...0

have u got markings saying its private land or anything?
try that first or sign then i would say call the police what harm can it doWhat goes around-comes around0 -
He is trespassing. If you've suffered a loss due to his trespass then you can sue him for that loss. Remember though that you'd need to quantify that loss - you couldn't just make up a number, otherwise you'd just be like the Private Parking Companies we all loathe and despise.
PS - you might get further advice if you PM a board guide to get this moved to the Parking sub-forum.0 -
Plus one for Rogue's suggestion.0

What kind of shop is it? Would be a shame to drop some nails in the space one night!
Only kidding. Just do as Rogue said. Easy solution.0 -

Nice one Jim, saw what you did there
I'm sure that if anything is done to his car he is the type of person who will damage the premises which are unattended out of hours except for the flat above them. I don't want that to start happening.
To be fair I've not been caused massive inconvenience, except for this morning, it is just annoying now that he thinks it is his god given right to use someone else's property.
If you want a drive way to park on work hard enough to buy or rent your own!!

The first thing that I would be doing is to check that the vehicle that is being parked there is totally legal (MOT, tax and insurance) and if not, then reporting it to the police.
These are easy to check online:
MOT & tax
https://www.vehicleenquiry.service.gov.uk/
Insurance.

One thing to bear in mind. Are you legally entitled to park a car in front of the shop as it looks like the kerb hasn't been dropped at the front? It might be worth checking this out before contacting the police or council (as it's often the council who deal with this sort of thing)0
