What we desperately need is a new party to take up the current political vacuum like happened recently in France. Not invented here however with our polarising first past the post voting system.
No, the majority of the country is quite happy to vote for Labour. No new parties needed.0 -
No need for an election then, we'll take your word.0

In the past when they weren't full of rabid leftists and the shadow cabinet didn't contain Marxists and racists you're correct.
Sadly that's not the situation we have now. I believe you'll find that as long as the situation described above persists Labour will be in opposition whether you like it or not.0 -
From the Independent, no less. :rotfl::T:beer:
I know no one who would 'now prefer a Corbyn government'. In fact, I'm finding the opposite is the case, the more the Corbhyn cult shows its face: huge 'Hang the Tories' poster outside the Tory conference and the like tactics – just imagine the faux outrage from the BBC and the likes of the 'Independent' and Guardian if a 'Hang the Labour Party' poster had been hung outside the 'labour' conference.
Tory voting resident of Surrey in 'finds it hard to find a Corbyn voter' shocker.“Britain- A friend to all, beholden to none”. 🇬🇧0 -
Excellent clip showing Labour's (deliberate IMO) many different positions regarding Brexit. I don't believe this level of conflicting statements can posssibly be accidental, even for a bunch as inept as Corbyn's shadow cabinet. This is clearly a deliberate tactic designed to present a position that can't be criticized because nobody knows what it is. Good to see the BBC actually highlighting this:

To answer my own question it looks like Shapps is trying to engineer something on Boris's behalf but Boris obviously doesn't want his finger prints anywhere near it which makes it hard for his supporters to be seen to be making up the numbers (48?) required to trigger a vote.
Is Ruth Davidson an MP?
A very shrewd move by the whips exposing Shapps to the press, whilst he had nowhere near the number of MPs on board.
It all started on the today program where John Humphries ripped him to pieces and the rest of the press slowly picked over the bones as the day progressed.
I loved the way that he kept saying that he had always been open and that number 10 always knew about it. Well that was your first mistake matey, if you're planning a coup you have to keep it under wraps until the last minute.
Theresa May keeps some very strong powerful people around her, not because they are necessary the best people for the post, but because they realise that stability is now more important than ever and they will fend off those wishing to stab her in the back.0 -

Actually Emily Thornberry gave a very good coherent description of Labours position on brexit on the Sunday Politics this Sunday.0
