Ideas for the ideal Broadband??

Options
Ideally I would have fast unlimited broadband accessible 2-3 days a week, like over the weekend for instance and I'd only pay for those 2-3 days.

2-3 days because I know I get easily distracted online so time limits serve me well. However when I do go online I prefer to use as much or as little data as I please without worrying about extra costs as you get when buying unlimited and cost wise I think why pay for 30 days if you'll only be using it for 8-12.

Unfortunately my ideal dream broadband deal doesn't exist (or does it?) and I realise as much as I've enjoyed the break I'm going to need internet again. There's so many different ways to connect now that my head is in a jumble deliberating it all. I'm brainstorming ways I can set up something close to my dream broadband situation at home and just wanted to get some ideas on how from anyone who's managed a similar set up or has similar needs. Would also like to know what way you prefer to connect, I'm considering Mobile Broadband (Mifi?) and working from there, does anyone use Mifi? How do you find it?

    I pay £2.50 a month for unlimited broadband. How much cheaper do you think it will get?

    Plusnet. You need to haggle a bit after your minimum term ends ;)

    That's perfect, the only downside is the line rental, I don't use any home phones which is why I've been considering other ways to connect.

    Pay as you go SIM with a hot spot maybe? It entirely depends how much data you use though.

    Mine is slightly cheaper: £0 per month for Sky Unlimited. You can't avoid paying line rental if you want ADSL or FTTC broadband.

    @JJ Egan It's a laptop I'm using

    @Spookieuk I will look into pay as you go sims thanks

    @macman I was under the impression that you didn't need a phone line with virgin FTTC broadband but when I looked online it seemed to require one so I think you're right.

    No, you don't have to take a phone bundle with VM-but if you don't, the remaining package price will be almost as much-so in effect you are paying line rental anyway-it's just not described as such.

    I pay just for line rental at £16.70 per month with TalkTalk and unlimited ADSL broadband is free. I never use the phone either. I don't even know the number.

    :p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p
