This morning I have been sorting out ds savings accounts / child trust fund account and moving both to better paying accounts. In my head that money will still be sat there earning interest for years but the reality is he is a teenager now so I guess it is down to a handful of years before it becomes his responsibility to manage them

Garage is finally sorted - I have 5 bin bags in the boot ready to go to the tip and three boxes in the back of the car that belong to Mum so they can go back to hers now. That's a good job out the way
There are still a few boxes that will need to go to the tip at some point but it's not urgent, at some point before I move I need to just sort through them and take them there but for now they are sracked neatly in a corner

Last day of the holidays today, although tbh I've done that much work for the pta stuff that it feels I've been back a while already.
Today we need to get ds haircut and he had a call yesterday and has now got a paper-round, starting tomorrow :money: He's very excited, he'll get £23 a week, not bad as he's only just 13 and has been desperate to earn some money for ages
Tonight I'm going to a spa with bestie, it was her birthday present and we thought we'd book it in just in time for our return to work
Last night I coloured my hair - hmm, I can see why I normally pay the hairdresser to do it - lets just say it's rather dark (and red :rotfl:) Hey ho, it'll grow out
Estate agent called yesterday and I have someone else coming to view the flat tomorrow
Oh and I played a slot this morning (allowed myself a budget of £3 and came away with £35 profit  off to add it to the signature now

Hello! De-lurking again:)
I wanted to ask how you sort your money out. Do you use spread sheets or one of the on line tools? I love how organised you are, I'm living vicariously through your diary. I get bored very easily and start something but it goes down hill very quickly. I've had spread sheets, folders on my laptop, physical paper folders etc but it never lasts.
Good luck with the viewings. I agree with everything being over priced, I couldn't afford to buy my house now and I only bought it 3 years ago.0 -
Hello Dingaling
Basically I have a very basic excel spreadsheet and I have my budget for the month, most bills are direct debits so they are set amounts, the ones that are annual etc I put away the money each month into a separate account that has different 'pockets' in, so I have one for car insurance, one for my ground rent etc, and I put in the same amount each month so when the bill comes in I have got it covered.
Then, after bills I put away some into savings as soon as I get paid and the rest is for food / petrol / general spends for the month. I have an app on my phone where I log what I spend so I can see how much is left.
Any money I make from survey / matched betting etc gets moved into one of the pockets in the separate account so it doesn't ever get mixed with my day to day money, and it is logged in my signature so I can check I have the right amount in there.
My council tax is paid over 10 months, so in Feb and March when I don't have to pay it I transfer the same amount into a pocket called Xmas so I have a starter on paying for that.
I think that's pretty much it, hopefully this month I will be so busy at work that I'm not going to have time to go spending money

And this months money has been moved from my wages into the savings pot and signature adjusted. I also managed to have £190 left over from the summer holiday budget so I have put that into my Christmas fund

Well done on your son's little job, around by us they don't have any paper boys anymore, another cost cutting job.
Ds has had an offer accepted on the house he wants, fingers crossed things work out, he has been told that it will be about three months to sign if everything goes ok. Ds has not been hot on patience so it might get abit fraught over the nextcouple of weeks.
Hoping to have a quiet weekend, with a chippy planned for tomorrow night.x:j Debtfree and and staying that way.:j3-6 month emergency fund, No.61 £140.000 -
Fingers crossed for the house Amber

Ds got paid this morning - £11.50 as he's done 3 days this week, he's so chuffed with that
He is going to treat himself to Xbox gold live each month, (works out at £3.34 a month), and will be saving some each week too. This week he has given me a tenner of his £11.50 to cover the first three months of xbox
Today we need to go and get his pe bag (the one thing I forget every year). The washing machine is about to go on, the flat is still tidy just needs a clean. I might go and hoover the car out too. No premier league footie today which is annoying but may mean I'm a bit more productive instead
