Carslet - just heard something similar myself. Seems the uptick around half an hour ago could be on murmurs of fresh QE from the US. in order to halt another economic crisis.

Trading on both the S&P and Nasdaq have now been halted.

    Nasdaq opened 11% down.

The NYSE is also taking "rule 48" to limit volatility. Whatever the hell rule 48 is.

    http://nyserules.nyse.com/NYSETools/PlatformViewer.asp?searched=1&selectednode=chp_1_3_2_5&CiRestriction=%22Rule+48%22&manual=/nyse/rules/nyse-rules/

Rule 48 is one of a number of rules to allow for orderly trading in the market. Rule 48 applies to the opening of each trading session (happy to explain what that is but it's boring) and is designed to ensure that the market is able to do what it is meant to do that is to establish price discovery in an orderly manner.

They can't go down, if I read one of Crashy's posts correctly! OMG I just realised that he might have been being sarcastic, what do you think?

I've just put the Blomberg channel on, I was curious to see what is behind this mini bounce, they are not offering any explanations (yet). If there isn't a reason, it might just drop off a cliff again.

S&P is up 4% from intraday lows.

Prices can go up as well as down.

Interesting that the thread on HPC discussing this has about 300 people viewing it, this really is a backwater over here.

Yes, I was one of them.
Was looking for comedy value and you guys didn't let me down. :rotfl:

Not saying they should do it, more of that is what I think they will do.
