Job competition is tougher than ever these days...
I've heard some statistics say there's about ten applicants interviewed for every open position. So the odds are already stacked against you.
If there will be an eventual interview, take it!
Just be yourself. I think of job interviews as a lot like dating; it takes a while to fund someone you would want for a boyfriend, right (lol). The interviewer is probably just as nervous/uncomfortable as you are!
In case you need, feel free to take a look to my blog The Career Hero, I have written an article about how to dazzle the interviewer. Hope this helps. Good luck!

I received one from an agency contact, saying - "this is our latest vacancie":(
Years ago, I was interviewed by a young lady, who "aksed" me - "How long have you been a cashiererer"
When I replied that I was not a cashier but an accounts manager, she replied - "Well, we is not recruiting for an accounts manager, we is recruiting for a cashiererer".
I was offered, but declined the job - I wonder why?0 -
The last post I applied for with a local council had nearly 200 applicants - for an admin assistant.

PS A current vacancy at Sheffield Uni for a trainee technician is asking for three A levels.
It's neither a high-skilled nor low-skilled job. It sits somewhere in the middle.0 -
Anyone who has the time to interview 300 people has too much time on his hands. I'm sure that he could be doing something more productive.
Quite apart from the fact that unsuitable candidates could easily be removed before interview by doing a paper sift. As they used to call it in the Civil Service.
And I'm sure he was lying - unless he was conducting group interviews or assessment days.0 -

Imagine they do this for hundreds of jobs. You are paid to filter CVs, it is your job. Why you make candidates rewrite their whole CV again in your form? If you are not satisfied with the CV of a candidate, just reject him, after all the CV is the mirror of a candidate.
Try sending in a CV for an NHS job, not going to happen. When applying for agencies/care homes, I've sent in CVs before then had to fill in an application form later on.Debt slowly coming down.[STRIKE] DRO off credit report July 2015![/STRIKE] credit history getting better!0 -

Same with Occupational Therapy...especially OTs working for London councils and London NHS Trusts. I was speaking to somebody who works for a large London Trust running their internal temporary staffing bank. They recruit constantly for medical secretaries as they don't have experienced meds secs apply.
Seem to be plenty of PA jobs in London too. I was on the recruitment panel when my team wanted a new PA. We had to re-advertise as hardly anybody applied! That was a 29K job for someone with a year or two of experience working in the City.
Our trust has just recruited 100s more from the Philippines who wont start till next year.
The NHS has a generic application form so you only need to change the supported statement each time.Debt slowly coming down.[STRIKE] DRO off credit report July 2015![/STRIKE] credit history getting better!0 -
Depends if those issues are really relevant or just you being pedantic on particular things and your individual selection method.Polarbeary wrote: »Without trying to be mean...some of the people applying had a poor ability to construct sentences too.
I have found that rather a lot of people do not know the difference between there and their, your and you're etc. If you cannot get that right on application form, I am not going to interview you.
I was pointing out you saying there are apparently lots of jobs in all these areas. If there are unemployed, maybe employers should be more flexible.0
