I don't think CrowCrow meant their point to be taken literally. The point is that although there lots of applicants there are lots of vacancies. The labour market is incredibly complex and the applicant to job ratio for one position

    doesn't really tell us anything.
His post post could mean anything and therefore it becomes meaningless.

    That is not correct.
Figures, application number can mean something or mean nothing.

The fact is you've got 150 applications for a trainee position, which does mean something, it indicates there is that demand for a starter job.

You have to make yourself to be better than the rest, make your cv or application stand out.

Everyone else is trying to do that as well
  • There is extremely low number for trainee positions.

That's not what your first post says unless you think 150 is extremely low.

I was told for a simple trainee laboratory assistant position, that is not even in London, 150 people applied! Is this healthy? In such competition, no one will ever get a job!

Not in all cases, I am on the look out for the next challenge, 2 of the roles I applied to last week one had 9 applicants and the other had two including me.

There was over 400 applications for a job I applied for at the beginning of the year. This was not for a high powered position, just an admin assistant.

I was in the lucky 10 they interviewed and was then in the final two.....they went with the other person.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

That's no a lot really. The problem is it is too easy to apply for jobs online. A couple of a clicks of a mouse is all it takes, so you get people applying for every single job they can find, when in reality they have 0% chance of getting 90% of them.

Whenever we advertised posts, it was amazing how many had not read the simple instruction - "please fill in an Application Form for this position" or words to that effect. If they couldn't be bothered to do this and sent in a cv instead - they didn't even get an interview.

There was 300 applicants for a job I applied for as a Trainee Administrator. The guy interviewing said he was interviewing all 300 and even came in on his days off:shocked:

Anyone who has the time to interview 300 people has too much time on his hands. I'm sure that he could be doing something more productive.
Quite apart from the fact that unsuitable candidates could easily be removed before interview by doing a paper sift. As they used to call it in the Civil Service.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.
