ESA to JSA

I am in a universal credit area. I am currently on ESA, if this claim ends and I have to claim JSA. Would I have to go on universal credit. If so it would be very hard to go a month without being paid. I'm currently on the two week turnaround. I have been on ESA since February and not yet being assessed. I am improving and hoping to go back to work when I feel that I could do a days work that would roll on to regular work. I am not being lazy but at the moment it is very hard for me to sit in the same seat for quite a while, stand for longer than ten to fifteen minutes. My doctor does seem quite understanding. My next appointment is on Tuesday because my fit note runs out 2nd September. I am hoping to get around 2-3 months on ESA then maybe switch to JSA. Or hopefully find some work after. I find the doctors very stressful but it always seems to go quite well. I just hope all things go well. Does anybody have any good advice.

So have you passed the ESA medical??
Why can't you sit for long periods? Why can't you stand for more than 10 minutes? Has you're doctor sent you to any specialists....0 -
No I haven't had a medical yet and the way you ask that I find not very nice or understanding at all. I'm glad your not my doctor. Why is there a need to quote when your the first reply?0

If you have to make a claim for Universal Credit if/when your ESA stops then you can ask for short term benefit advance.
Remember that your ESA is paid in arrears so you would have 2 more weeks when you would be paid ESA.
You can read about the short term benefit advance here:

Yes but the fit note would have to cover the period of arrears.0 -

Am just asking the questions that you will be asked when you go for a medical. If you turn up without a report from a specialist then you don't have much of a chance of passing. It's like anyone could go for a medical and say I can't sit down for long periods.... Why can't you. I can't stand for more than 10 minutes.... Why can't you.
If you go and just say this, You might get a nurse who thinks you have just taking two of the most debilitating descriptors and trying to use them to pass.
If you don't want to tell us fine, But i was only asking not trying to be rude....
Also you keep asking a lot of questions about fit notes etc, I have also seen you're post on consumer action forum..... And it wasn't very good I must say...
Also I quote mostly everything I reply to. It gives me a future reference just and lets people understand what am saying....0 -
Really! helpful to who?
How did he answer the op's question?
Because the OP clearly wants to stay on ESA without a medical as indicated in the OP.I am hoping to get around 2-3 months on ESA then maybe switch to JSA
If you check his history and i remember replying to him, All he goes on about his fit notes and esa. People go on ESA for real medical problems, Not to get a break from JSA. And the posts he makes on consumer action forum aswell indicate there is nothing wrong with him.My next appointment is 25th August at 7pm. I am considering discharging myself from the psychologist as Im coping with my anxiety much better, this has been on my note for the pst three months. I was given a two month note by a different doctor last time. I do still have other problems which hinder me working. I did put basically all of them on my ESA50 form just after claiming. One of those other problems will have to go on note if I don't rebook the psychologist. Shall I just book the psychologist again and get a note for my anxiety again. I don't want to be refused a fit note as it would mean going a month without money because I'd have to go onto universal credit (JSA).
Just wonder what condition he actually has, it seems to differ from forum to forum.0 -
I have quite a few medical problems paragon. I suffer badly with my anxiety issues to and find the doctors very difficult experience. If it helps I am quite overweight which I am trying to get down. I am doing well but I do find alot of everyday activities very difficult to do. I think Im improving but it does seem to be a slow process. I was looking for advice and don't wish to be laid into which is how your coming across to me. I will speak to the doctor on Tuesday hopefully all will go well.0

I take it you have completed the ESA50 and explained all your problems....
The next step is to wait for the ESA medical. Just continue to get fit notes from you're doctor as usual, If you're medication isn't working ask to get it changed. Ask to be referred to mental health team, If you're not already done so, But I think you are as indicated in other forums/threads, If you have real problems then it's up to a specialist to sign you off (fit). Not you.
You can't expect to make a post saying things like you find doctors stressful. If you have real genuine problems then a doctors surgery is not stressful(what's stressful about it). If you cant go to the doctors as you stated, You have no chance of working, Won't you find work stressful??? Because you stated you can't sit down for long periods or stand for more than 10 minutes which are descriptors, So if the government put these as descriptors then they recognise it's a limited work capability, So what job could you do?
I think you need to make you're mind up.... JSA or wait for you're medical to see if you have a limited work capability...0
