That's you're opinion. Am just asking questions based on OP's own words. If a doctors surgery is stressful, Then he has no chance of working.... It's a contradiction. Why would you go on JSA unless you're fit to work. But say you have all these health problems...0 -
Yes I have been referred to mental health. I am currently seeing a NHS psychiatrist regularly. I do however find the doctors a highly stressful experience. In the past I have felt the benefits of work. I would love to go back now and hoping to in around three months time. Its not a contradiction in my mind, It's a goal to aim for. Hopefully when I get back to work when I'm ready and able to I will feel as if I have achieved something. I know I'm not ready, I have many medical problems. Both mental and physical which restrict what I can do. But I do eventually want to overcome these.0

You are right. GP surgeries can be a nightmare for people with mental health problems. I recall attending when I first got ill. I was anxious, sweating and once in the room with my GP (who had known me 20 years) I couldn't talk, look at him. I spent most of the time playing with my hands. Now several years on, a move house, 3 different GP's and treatment I am finally no longer scared of doctors. I use to be terrified of my GP, the mental health team and do not get me started on psychiatrists! Now I just me again... the anxieties are still present but it is so much easier to deal with.
It will get better, trust me!0 -
Ended up quite pleasing with the doctor. Covered until 5th October now so nothing much ahead to worry about or stress Over.0

In fairness going to the doctors can be quite stressful. I'm lucky in that i have a GP who knows about MH but i have had some really horrible expereiences with doctors in the past and this has made me very mistrustful of medical professionals, it took well over a year of seeing my psychiatrist before i felt i could trust her (and that she wasn;t out to get me) and open up to her. Hell i've delayed moving doctors despite moving house because the anxiety if seeing a new GP is too much to deal with (which i am addressing soon, but now have the problem of lack of photo id which needs sorting first). So i can understand why its stressful for some people. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

I agree about doctors ( well most people as well make me anxious )
I'm seeing my psychiatrist on Tues and ive typed out a chronology from the last six years to hand to him. I find it all too complex to say whats happened to me and I'll just end up crying - but at least by writing it all out - it gives me a chance to tell him everything.Stuck on the carousel in Disneyland's Fantasyland

Completely agree with you. For me it was never helped initially with NHS Psychiatrists, that I would always see a different one at each appointment. Then finally the NHS trusts made changes and I got a regular consultant so I could begin to trust him!0
