You have to drive to take into consideration the idiots on the road. Sometimes it's others, sometimes it's you. I take a mental note of the indicator but wait to see which way their wheels are pointed before I move. At least that's what I aim to do. We all have a 'bad day in the office' day sometimes...0

they just osund like idiots u done the righ thing getting out of there
the problemis peopledoforget to turn off their indicators etc u really have to wait these days till theyve passed you
i had the opposite happen to me-waiting at a roundabout car coming from the right no indicator on soi waited he turned off the previous exit-welli wasnt toknow was i-car behind me starts beeping giving mehand gestures because i didnt pulloff
followsme up the road beeping and swearing luckilydecided to go a different direction or i dont know what would have happened
u just get allsorts ofmorons aboutWhat goes around-comes around0 -
Some years ago I was was coming up to a mini-roundabout and coming from the left was a woman driving with her partner/hubby riding shotgun, she decided to do a full U turn on the roundabout without any indication at all, resulting in a VERY heavy application of the brakes on my part, I probably looked shocked, but I didn't do anything to provoke them.
The passenger then proceeded to give me obscene hand gestures for the next mile or so, while the driver was speeding up and slowly down repeatedly. Complete psychos the pair of them..............“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Never ever do that.
No well thats a lesson learned! Been okay so far, with driving generally but this has really hit me! It's just that I saw him put the indicator on to turn left and then he speeded up and cancelled the indicator at the same time - hence the situation.
I was talking to a good friend on the phone last night about it - mainly because it shook me up so much - and she reminded me of a a very serious incident back in the 1990's involving a road rage incident that resulted in a death.
That guy was Stephen Cameron who lost his life to one Kenny Noye - former Brinks Mat Robber extradornaire. Technically, Stephen was younger and fitter to take on Noye, but Noye had a knife and stabbed Stephen to death!
As one of the other posters pointed out, you never ever know who you are going to come up against! One day this pair of nutters will take someone on who may well not be so tollerant of their behaviour! As the old saying goes every dog has it's day and I am sure they will meet theirs!
People make mistakes thats life - get over it and move on! Sadly some others just cannot and are on the lookout for confrontation regardless because their whole life seems to be pitted to causing trouble.
Looking back I did the right thing to get gone. I was very lucky he didn't ram my car when I got out of that junction he was blocking. I just wonder what the other road users were thinking!0 -
The other lesson to learn here is to (try to) never give the other driver any idea what you think of what they've just done if they do something stupid. They won't learn from you pointing it out and some of them may get aggressively defensive.
I've found that, in a case like that, a sort of small apologetic wave with a "sorry" look on your face will leave them to go on their way and take out their natural anger on someone else. Certainly, continuing to speak your mind about it once they've stopped and can hear you is likely to be a bad move.
It may have been (at least partly) their fault for mis-indicating, and she may well have been nuts, but it costs absolutely nothing to defuse it and can cost an awful lot to let is escalate!0 -
It's a good idea to wait for them to commit to their turn before pulling out at roundabouts, give ways or anywhere really just to make sure they're going where they're signalling.
Although it's nice to vent it's a good idea to keep a civil dialect when speaking to other road users as there's a lot of maniacs out there. All your base are belong to us.0 -
Oh an if an aggressive driver places themselves between your car and your only exit...... "self defence gov"“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

It sounds like a case of Early Indication Syndrome ....he was indicating to turn off the roundabout before he had passed the exit/entrance where you were waiting. Once had a near miss myself in the same situation. A less risky example is people queueing up in a dedicated lane to turn and indicating whilst waiting .... Quite unnessesary.0

You get idiots who indicate right to go straight on from the LH lane.
You get idiots who indicate left and then go straight over.
You get idiots!Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0
