Had an incident occur where I was at a roundabout waiting to go right. Car comes from the RIGHT (onto the roundabout) but has the indicator on for turning left. I went to pull out, the car came straight ahead and then cancelled the indicator. I put the brakes on and then said out loud "oh bloody what"! They obviously saw what I said and he then stops the car on the roundabout blocking both mine and others access both on the roundabout and out of the junctions.
His gob !!!!! Mrs buzzes the window down shouting "your at fault" and I said "fine, but just go on your way" she then continues to gob off and I said something along the lines of "you are effing nuts", he then takes his seatbelt off and is about to get out of the car - his car is still stationary on the roundabout and still blocking other traffic including me!
Watching him get out the car I then put my car into reverse, and then slightly turned the car to the left and shot out of the roundabout to get out of his way and gone - I had no idea what this guy was going to do and I just wated to get the hell out of there. Just had this feeling that this pair were out looking for trouble. Generally I take the indicators as been a given but clearly going forward I think I need to be allot more aware!
Bit annoyed by this, but just out of curiosityI wonder if any of you had any thoughts on it!
The one day I did not have dashcam running as well

What was position of vehicles again? If you were on the right and they were on the left, how did you know they had their left indicators on?
Do you mean they came from the right onto the roundabout?
Never ever trust indicators, wait until they've turned. Number of times some imbecile with their left indicator on have not in fact intended to take the first exit but rather cross the roundabout. If I'd gone would have been collision.

Sorry, Sorry Ian yes, I was waiting to turn right on the roundabout! So I was looking to the right - this car came out from the right hand side onto the roundabout, but he had his indicator on showing he was turning left. I then went to pull forwards onto the roundabout, but then as I did he came straight on. I braked and he cancelled the indicator at around the same time!0

Were you on the roundabout or not ? In this country you can only turn left off a roundabout , due to driving on the left . If he is on the roundabout he has priority .0
-
Technically yes you would be deemed at fault if an accident occured.
Doesn't change the fact they sound like a couple of morons who need putting back in their place!0 -
Yes seen that so many times. That's why I ignore other people's indicators, at roundabouts or junctions, I wait until its clear and/or they've started turning in.
Seen all those people driving down a straight road with indicators still on for miles?
At least you stopped in time to avoid accident.
Sounds like insanely OTT reaction from them, just based on your lip movements!? But I've seen two cars stopped on roundabout before, while the two drivers have exited their vehicles to yell at each other.
You were right to escape and lucky you were able to.Mortgage remaining: £42,260 of £77,000 (2.59% til 03/18 - 2.09% til 03/23)

Roundabouts...... Just assume nobody knows how to use them.
You get idiots who indicate right to go straight on from the LH lane.
You get idiots who do actually go right from the LH lane.
You get idiots who indicate left and then go straight over.
You get idiots who cut left from the RH lane.
You get idiots who don't indicate at all.
You get idiots!“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Definitely never pull out in front of someone indicating left until you actually see them commit to the turn. Good move not getting involved in a road rage incident - a lot of people like arguing for the sake of it!0

I was just about to pull out onto the roundabout so it is fair to say the front of my bumper was over the white line, but it is important to stress that I was not even half or even quarter of the way out onto the roundabout. When I came up to the roundabout there was a car in front of me, they went forward and I moved up next and then this Jag then put it's indicator on to go left and then cancels it and comes straight ahead. It was seeing him put the indicator on to go left that perhaps I took as being a given! The fact is - hand on heart - I had hardly moved out the junction when I put the brakes on! Thats the crux of it and why Ii just cannot get my head around the reaction because I had not - in any way - prevented them from continuing forward, they had loads of room in fact that had the entire roundabout practically!
Thats the point that I want to be clear about and why I cannot for the life of me fathom out why it escalated in the way it did because it was so unnecessary. He climbed out of the car at the point I said to her that she was nuts - because she was - when I say she ranting and shaking her head that was exactly it, all I saw was this contorted face and this mouth and teeth going ten to the dozen!
I was just starting to pull off, he comes from the right, in the first lane (which the painted white lines clearly show for either go left or straight ahead) and he had the indicator on for turning left and thenas I went to pull out he turned it off and came straight ahead hence why I put the brakes on quickly.
They then put their car over the exit point of the roundabout where I was preventing me from moving forward - they just stopped on the roundabout like parked their car up in front of me - and this just kicks off.
All it would have taken is a toot of the horn, even a flick of the finger - but this was wayyyy OTT.
The guy on my left just stayed in situ, there were cars stacked up behind this nutter because he had parked on the roundabout and then at the point where she was ranting - and I mean ranting and I said your effing nuts - he takes off his seatbelt and is about to get out of the car.
I just had a total gut feeling and instinct to put the car into reverse and pulled out around him and I was gone. I kept looking in the rear view mirror to see if they were behind but zilcho - thank goodness. Heart was racing and I felt like it was in my throat TBH. I seriously thought if he comes after me I was have dialled the 9's!
Never seen anything like it! Probably will never again - I hope. I guess the other drivers were clearly wondering what the hell was up with them, because if I had been sat in the car behind I would have been wondering.
One of my friends even suggested it could be an insurance scam, I guess it's possible - could explain their total over the top reactions. Just this bald shaved headed thug of a driver and if he had come near my car - despite allot of witnesses - it would be difficult to think what would have happened. Given that he slammed his car on in front of me -and I had hardly got out of the junction - kind of says allot about their ability to rationale a genuine issue. I would hate to be around this pair of dangerous idiots if something really went wrong!0 -
I bet he was boiling when I shot my car around the front of his though - I mean I still got out in front of him in the end! I was gone and he was left there with everybody looking at him probably thinking 'what a !!!!!!'.
If he has pee'd me off for a few hours at least I take satisfaction that I have screwed up his weekend! Can't imagine a worse situation for his male ego pride at the fact that I shot out of there while he was climbing out of car only to have to get back in again. Think I was lucky really that he did not get back in quick enough to ram my car as I was getting out round him.
Think all around I have to send thanks to my Guadian Angel for coming out with only a wee bit of wounded pride!0 -
Just forget about it, I don't understand people getting out the car and wanting a fight. You could of been a nutter with a knife or gun for all he knows. People make mistakes , imagine if you're in Asda and accidentally bump your trolley in to someone, it's highly unlikely they'd punch you in the face, but put them behind a wheel of a car and they go mental.0
