If people are concerned about cordless options, just but a long extension cable to increase the reach without having to unplug.

Have a Dyson handheld myself, entry level model I think, and does the job well. 15 min battery time though but enough get round once quickly. Its super convenient as well for those quick 30 sec clean ups round the kitchen etc.

I bought a GTECH Airam around 6 months ago. I must admit I had reservations on a battery powered vacuum but to be honest, its been just fine and I don't regret the purchase.

My mother bought one off the back of mine and she's over the moon with it.

The only downside is I can't use it for the cars and it aint great on stairs.

We have a Bosch Athlet and I love it. I've been needing a lightweight cleaner for a while now. We tried a smaller corded Dyson (can't remember the model number) and I didn't like it at all, it felt like it was about to collapse in pieces and was very awkward. This has now been rehomed with my son at uni where I guess it will have very infrequent use :rotfl:

The Bosch is very easy to manoever , feels very powerful on high power and the battery hasn't run out on me yet. The only downside is it needs emptying frequently as of course a small machine has a small dust bucket. It's easy to empty and you can even put the filter in the washing machine if it needs a good clean!

yes, ours is plugged in at the bottom of the stairs and can do the whole house without unplugging. Also a 3 bedroom semi... And the battery won't run out!
  • I think Shark Cordless Navigator Freestyle is perfect for you. I am using it and this works well and never disappointed me. You can get more info about cordded and cordless vacuum cleaners from here.

For those with Gtechs, there's an issue whereby the motor drive to the brushbar can fail, happened to mine, due to the drive being through a small plastic toothed cog...https://www.google.co.uk/?gws_rd=ssl#q=gtech+air+ram+cog
