That's exactly my point. I'm raging mad this morning after finding this out but will probably calm down, go on our second try at having a honeymoon, relax and decide it's not worth fighting with them any more.
I'm just shocked and a gutted.0 -
That was my reason for the word IF.....gettingtheresometime wrote: »The issue that the OP has is that they were told that the flight had been cancelled, came home a day earlier, found out about the potential claim but can't claim as the flight wasn't cancelled (so potentially were lied to for whatever reason)0 -

Unless your compensation agreement was in full and final settlement, I would write them a letter pointing out that the flight wasn't cancelled, enclosing proof send it and then forget about it.
If you get further compensation all well and good but if you don't then I wouldn't stress about it but put it down to experience
You're right - and I really would rather move on. I think I posted this while I was still in shock about what I'd discovered. To be honest, the refund will pay for another holiday which we're hoping to take next week, so we'll finally be able to relax and forget about it.0 -
I know it's gutting that things didn't work out as planned and, don't get me wrong I'm not defending what Teletext did in any way, but the problems you had will only have "completely wrecked" your wedding and honeymoon if you let them.
Lots of people have problems of various sorts in the run up to their wedding (one wedding I was due to attend last year, the bride's father died two days before the wedding) or on the day itself, it's how you choose to deal with these that determines how it affects you.
At the end of the day you're married, that's what a wedding is all about after all. Instead of focusing on what went wrong, try and look at the bigger picture. A few years from now you'll probably be able to tell your 'wedding disaster' story and laugh about it.
Having said that, maybe when planning such an important trip (especially when spending "an absolute fortune"), it would have been better not to entrust it to an organisation with such an appalling reputation, (a little research would have revealed how many problems people have had with Teletext Holidays over the last few years).
Congratulations on your marriage and enjoy honeymoon no. 2
Everything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endQuidquid Latine dictum sit altum videtur0 -

I know, I know - why on earth we didn't research them before we booked, I am still asking myself this question now! I'm normally a pretty savvy consumer. We'd been to Mexico before with a Travel Zoo deal and it was completely wonderful and faultless. Maybe we got lulled into a false sense of security with low cost holiday companies...
The day itself was amazing and we will definitely cherish it. It really was a complete disaster the days before and after it though and it was a series of errors and the way it was dealt with that were so upsetting.
I am still coming at this from a place of stress - so you're right in saying, when we've calmed down and managed to relax, we will forget all about that part of the trip.
Thanks for your congratulations! x0 -
You now have two options:
You could accept the money back from the agent, forget about the airline compensation, and perhaps just book a short holiday to relax;
Alternatively, you could write to Teletext pointing out that they have lied to you, and so the agreement that you reached is null and void since they have not negotiated in good faith. Return the money they are sending you and state a revised figure, to take account of the fact that you cannot claim the Euro 600 per passenger that you had expected at the time you agreed to their offer, and also that their deception has aggravated the original problem. If you choose to go down this route I suggest you have a chat with a solicitor, and perhaps contact the airline concerned to confirm that the flight operated normally, just in case flight-stats has got it wrong.0
