Samsung washing machine making holes in my tops

Hi

We are on our 2nd Samsung washing machine , WW80H7410EW/EU

Like our previous one bought last October that Samsung replaced in June, this one is making holes in lots of our tops. They are small holes in the bottom, middle section of each top. Has anyone else got this?

We don't over fill our 8kg machine, we put all bras etc in a washing bag to protect the tops, we don't wear belts, we use Persil washing liquid - have don't lots of Internet research on the possibilities!

Samsung paid out over £800 last time to replace our clothes and are refusing this time, all the new holes appeared in brand new tops within 2 weeks of the machine being used and the engineer that Samsung sent out said he could find no fault .

Any suggestions ?

Have you checked that there's no mice sneaking in and nibbling your clothes?

Only other thing I can think of is that if the tops are a delicate fabric are you putting them on a too fast a spin? With 99% of machines it doesn't make any difference, our machine is always on full speed, but sometimes it matters.

We had the same problem with our washing machine,it was damaging my wifes clothes,i checked the drum, the drum bars etc then found out that if she put the delicate items in a washer bag ( the thing looks like a net bag,i would not know ) but this cured the problem.it is caused by the high spin speed trying to push the material thru the holes in the drum.
    Hope this helps

are you sure it is the machine? If the holes are just in the front at waist height it might be that the material is getting rubbed and then the washing machine is causing the rubbed bits to fray. I found the main cause for me was using my laptop on my lap and using my seatbelt. My t-shirts were getting rubbed against my belt or buttons on my jeans and so I was getting a little pattern of holes just in that place. If you google 'what are these little holes in my t-shirts?' you will find a plethora of theories and suggested cures!

We had exactly this problem with our Bosch washing machine. It has been completely solved by reducing the spin speed.

    Are the clothes from Primark?
  • Hi everyone

    In reply to your posts

Clothes from whistles, jigsaw,Abercrombie, gap, banana republic and a few other places - nothing cheap and all just normal tops.

Spin speed on the machine we have been using is 1200

No carry laptops and never driven in the clothes (seat belts etc)

All theories welcome and experiences from other Samsung owners

What do the labels on the clothes say? Many can't take a full spin & should go on a "synthetic" program.

Are the holes in about the same place on each top? If so, I think that would pretty much rule out damage by the machine as it doesn't know which bit of a top is the front/middle/whatever.
