Does anyone know if it is now impossible to download iTunes when using Vista as I keep getting this message 'iTunes requires that your computer is running Windows 7 or newer'.

Update to Windows 7 or continue with the older version of iTunes if it will allow you.0

I would consider yourself lucky you're not subject to the horror that is iTunes.0

I'm running iTunes on an XP machine. XP predates Vista.0

Thanks NiftyDigits I downloaded this version successfully but as my iPod continues to flash orange when I connect it to my computer I think I now have to assume that it has kicked the bucket.0 -

..........The flashing orange light means DO NOT DISCONNECT (eject shuffle before physically disconnecting). When flashing, the light has nothing to do with battery status.
If you eject the shuffle in iTunes (by clicking the eject button next to the shuffle's name in iTunes), the light becomes solid (not flashing). Solid light means OK TO DISCONNECT. Then, the light color indicates battery status.
If the light color is (solid) green before disconnecting, but the iPod does not play after disconnecting, and the shuffle's light does not come on at all when you move the power switch from OFF to ON position, the shuffle's battery is not holding its charge. That may be due to age (worn out battery). If the shuffle is less than one year from purchase date, it is under warranty.
In case the shuffle not playing is software-related, you can try doing a Restore in iTunes. The Restore button is on the shuffle's Summary (or Settings) screen in iTunes. This will erase the shuffle, reinstall its software, and set it default settings.0 -
Thanks for the reply NiftyDigits but it's more complicated then just having the light flashing, my computer no longer seems to recognise my iPod.
Previously I use to plug my iPod shuffle into my computer and itunes would appear on my screen and sync my podcasts. This no longer happens I can't sync them manually by using the refresh button and I can't do a Restore because I don't have access to a Summary or Settings screen.
Using Vista is slowly driving me insane.0 -

Why don't you update? i'm sure that we've discussed this before/ But inertia probably prevailed.
Do you have a brand name and model number?0
