Was with Driver Guardian for several years, charging less than £100 all-in to include Europe. Then was pointed in the direction of the AA where the similar service was well over £250 😱 however with TopCashback got that down on a par with DG. Renewal due in a few months, there won’t be any cashback offers available for the second years membership so can’t see I’ll be staying with the AA a at those prices.
  • RAC was up for renewal and was they wanted to auto renew for over £275.
Spoke to them and asked about online price of £120 only to be told that this was for new customers only.
Told them I was unhappy and wanted to cancel, they reduced it to £190.
Again told them I was unhappy and they matched online price with free onward travel for however long I stay with them.
    £275 down to £120. Result.
  • AA renewal £230 got it down to 130 with the addition of adding the wife so we now both have cover!

I've been with the AA for 39 years. Gold member, joint membership, Roadside Assistance, National Recovery. My renewal notice has just come in, £305.48.
I did call and threatened to leave a few years back and got a discount. At the time it was easier for me to stay. I think it's time to call again.
Renewal is due on the 1st of July. How long before then should I call?

My AA renewal came through (renewal date July 27th) for - wait for it - £697.86!!
This is slightly more than double last years renewal (£348.76).
It does include everything, including Parts & Garage cover for our 42 yr old VW campervan.
Called them today hoping to get down to around last year's price.
    Got it down to £286!!
    A £411 reduction!!!
If I've made a grammatical error and you're pointing it out, I'd just like to say :T "Thanks" in advance. You big person, you ;)
  • AA sent very high renewal price. Haggle on online chat, got lots off, but no way near RAC's silly large cashback amount on TopCashBack. AA then refused to go any further, so I cancelled. They rang me back several times (missed calls on my part) over next week to get my trade back, they honoured previous price but wouldn't go any lower, but what they did do and I managed to press for more, was they offered I think £30 Amazon gift card, I said £60 and they agreed so same price as RAC!
