Having to bin 2 Canon printers that are working perfectly

I cannot believe that I am having to throw away 2 Canon printers (ip4850) that are working perfectly.

The reason being is that the ink absorbers are full.

Having researched it, I can either tackle the job myself which requires almost a total strip down and looks very difficult or pay a company to do it for me which will cost no less that £170 to do both. I can actually buy 3 similar new printers for that price and have money over.

I cannot think why there cannot be a slot built into the side of the machine that can be pulled out and the absorber emptied or replaced.

It won't clean the absorbers, but will reset the counter and should allow you to carry on using the printer.

I did it once dirty messy job never again .

Like all these sort of goods they are built to a price .

Same thing happens with lots of epsons, though there is a work round by getting a waste ink tank set up for them (and an app that resets the counters to zero)
