    ^^^^ Do they need MOT? For new vehicles!!!

    I took my car for MOT yesterday and received a hand-written certificate. Apparently the problem was compounded because MOT test centres were not allow to use hand written certs without the receipt of an authorisation code.

    Nope! Cars need to be 3 years old to need a MOT.

    My comment was tongue in cheek (a bit) and wondering why the poster mentioned NEW cars could not get taxed when the thread is about MOT??

    DVSA = MOT Computer
    DVLA = VED Computer

    Pretty sure there's more than just one s****ing computer between those two departments.

    No, it isn't. They talk to each other, but they're completely different systems, run by completely different government agencies.

    Apart from the fact that you actually said they were the same, you really don't have much of a clue about IT, do you?

    Here's a thought for you...
    When you replace your driving licence, it takes your photo from your passport. Are they "integrated", or "the same"?
    When you look your driving licence up online, you need your NI number. Are they "integrated", or "the same"?

    Yes all government data systems are integrated in fact the DVLA commissioned the tendering for the new DVSA system . Does the fact not occur to you that if a system with corrupt data is integrated with another it will bring both systems down ?
