am looking to see if I can buy my bungalow off housing association, they have sent me out a form to apply , but on it you have to put the amount of any savings you have ,cant understand why they need to know we are not on any benefits so pay our own rent , the property is also made of poured concrete & due to our age we would be paying cash as we have been left some money.

just be honestDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

As it is a housing assoction you are buying from I'm assumung it it Right to Aquire. From the application form it states this: "Part
Details of income
NOTE: The Government collects information on the incomes of people buying their homes under the Right to Acquire. It uses this information to help it take decisions on future funding and policy in relation to social housing. Please assist in this process by adding the income details of you and your partner (if applicable)."
So there is the reason.0 -

You'll be lucky to get any further help with that attitude.0 -
They may be asking to check you can afford to fund a mortgage and maintain the property after purchase. Its likely they will ask everyone the same questions. Try talking to them. Its unlikely they can insist on being given full details of your savings.0

I suppose you could leave it blank and see what happens. Maybe they won't care, maybe they won't let you buy the house. I have no idea.0 -
Hi Beattiesman,
I wouldn't want to divulge this information either, its actually none of their business. It just sounds like an information gathering exercise so I doubt you are under any obligation to provide details of your savings.
I would ring and ask if you have to answer this question and what the implications are in refusing to answer.

All my money is in current accounts or "under the mattress", none in savings accounts, so I always put £0 no savings when asked by some officious body.over 73 but not over the hill.0
