Spark plugs I'm not sure about, can't seem to get any agreement between sources, the Ford Etis site says replace annually but the NKG site doesn't give any sort of clear answer, anything else seems to be just speculation on forums without much consensus.
I'm erring towards the £8 an 5 mins work being worth it for the peace of mind of knowing it's been done...0 -
Judging by the price you appear to have been quoted for four spark plugs, I wouldn't bother as they'll be no better than those you're replacing at that price! A single Bosch plug would come it at around £8 or £9 to put it in to perspective....Unless you were under impression the price quoted is for a set where really it's for one.....They do the same for brake discs sometimes....Doesn't make sense as you seldom replace one at a time!
Where are you buying your plugs from?
Quick search and I've found em for £2.02 each and from £7 for a pack of four.0 -

GSF Car Parts/Euro Car Parts list them at around £8 a plug for Bosch and that's discounted for this make/model of car. You could get them cheaper no doubt on eBay or the like, but not sure how genuine they'd be....Maybe even from China? You can get lesser known brands for about £1 a plug.
Maybe they are fake.

Having said that, GSF aren't often clear as to how many are included in their sales. For example, they had 'Denso' plugs (a decent enough brand) for £4.69, and under quantity it said '4' which indicates there are four in a pack, whereas the Bosch ones, under quantity it said 'The recommended quantity is 4' which suggests that you have to select four as they're sold individually. They surely couldn't buy a genuine Bosch plug, and sell them for £2 each....
Euro Car Parts however say quite clearly 'priced per plug'.0
