Swap french doors to bi-fold doors

We are considering changing our existing patio doors to larger patio doors.
Ignoring the cost of the doors as this will be whatever it costs how much should latering the opening cost?
Currently it's 5ft wide, and we are looking to make this 8 or 9 feet.
We have 1 quote and it's over 3k + doors + fitting + building control.
