    And you resurfaced this thread because? You call the OP childish, tbh you are just as bad.

    IMO I think the OP has got an unnecessarily hard time of some of the posters. Did they even say they were going to be rude to the person they want to avoid?
    I disagree.

    The OP had some reasonable (although differing) advice until he took exception to a post and decided to play tit-for-tat.

    The fact that his retaliation then resulted in posters querying his ability to remain dignified under pressure at said event was entirely down to his own comments on this and the other thread mentioned.
  • I have been to parties before where there's someone I wanted to avoid. I just ignore them don't don't actively go near them, there's usually enough other people to speak with anyway. When I do bump into her I just say hi & bye to be civil but I refuse to engage in any small talk or show any fake interest.

    Just remember you're there for the host so just grin & bear it.

    I have also been in situations where two friends have fallen out & it's not easy to deal with either.
