exactly my point,i don't see why they won't write it off, claim for it on the third party insurance and then sell on the car to a scrap merchant?
  • Have the insurance company actually said they will repair it?

i was told yesterday that engineering have authorised the repair but it hasn't been set in stone, rung the bodyshop up yesterday and they didn't include the damage to the alloy wheels aswell in the quote "approx £300 for the pair" going to ring up today and speak to a claims manager and state i won't feel safe in the car again after its had nearly 3.5k worth of damage done to it

The amount of damage does not necessarily equate to how "safe" a car will be. It may be purely, albeit expensive, bodywork damage to repair.

That doesn't make sense. Do you actually mean ...
I was stationary and someone drove into me at 35 mph? (Only rear end damage to your vehicle)

    Or ...
I was stationary, someone hit me from behind and pushed me fast (35 mph) into someone else? (Both front and rear end damage to your vehicle)

You can always insist on a full inspection before accepting it, if it's fixed properly and there's no subframe damage it will be fine.

You can speak to them direct and ask them about the write off issue.

turns out theyd valued my car at 5k instead of 4200 that the GAP people have told me its worth bringing the write off threshold down from 3750 to 3150,the damage is 3k atm but its been noted im going to need two new alloy wheels and at the minimum fully frefurb on them taking the price upto 3150,i will lose out on £60 from the gap as their estimate is 4260 but im not bothered about £60 :)

thanks for all those who have helped

And you are? I suspect the OP isn't going to just ring a random number posted on the internet. Some more information might help them.
