Networks charging for replacement/change of SIM card
To the best of my knowledge, the following information reflects SIM only contracts - but it could apply to other types of contracts and/or pay as you go.
I've known for some time that EE charge £10 for a SIM card change.
However, tried to change a SIM card with Three today and was notified of a £5.11 charge, although they did wave it for me as "a goodwill gesture as I've not had a SIM change in the past".
Just a heads up to be on the look out for these hidden charges... As long as I've used Vodafone, they give these away for free.

Three have had the £5 charge for years (but often waive it).
Here's a rundown on the various networks:EE
EE will charge £10.20 for a replacement Micro SIM or Nano SIM. In an EE retail store (find your nearest), the SIM card swap-over should take no longer than an hour. You can also order a replacement SIM card online by filling out the form on EE’s website. £10.20 will be charged to your next month’s bill on Pay Monthly or to your airtime balance on Pay As You Go. Once the new SIM card arrives in the post, use the online tool to activate your replacement SIM card. Please refer to the EE help page for more information.
giffgaff
giffgaff doesn’t charge for a replacement Micro SIM or Nano SIM. You can order a replacement SIM card via giffgaff’s website. Once the new SIM card has arrived in the post, use the SIM swap tool to get it changed over. It normally takes between 4 and 7 working days to receive your replacement SIM card.
O2
O2 will replace your SIM card free of charge in any retail store (find your nearest). You can either change to a Micro SIM or Nano SIM depending on your handset.
Orange
Orange (part of EE) can replace your SIM card with a new Micro SIM or Nano SIM totally free of charge. Either go into your nearest EE retail store (find your nearest) or fill out this form on EE’s website. If you order your replacement SIM card online, it could take up to 2 working days for the replacement to be dispatched. Please refer to the EE help page for further information.
Tesco Mobile
Tesco Mobile can replace your SIM card free of charge. To do this, you’ll need to call Customer Services on 4455. They’ll send you a replacement Micro SIM or Nano SIM within 3 working days. Once the new SIM card has arrived through the post, use the online SIM Swap tool to get the new SIM card activated.
Three
Three can replace your existing SIM card with a new Micro or Nano SIM. This can be done in one of Three’s retail stores. Normally, it costs £5 to replace your SIM card. However, inform the staff at Three that you’re changing SIM card type and they shouldn’t charge you for the replacement SIM card.
T-Mobile
T-Mobile (part of EE) charges £10.20 for a replacement Micro or Nano SIM. Done in an EE retail store, this should take less than one hour. Alternatively, order your SIM card online by filling in the form on EE’s website. £10.20 will be charged to your next month’s bill. Please see the EE help page for more information.
Vodafone
Vodafone can replace your SIM card with a new Micro SIM or Nano SIM totally free of charge. It can take up to 15 minutes to do this at a Vodafone retail store (find your nearest store). T-Mobile and EE sims can now be replaced free in an EE Retail storeI spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂0

Really? Can anyone else vouch for this?0
