Metal Gas cylinder refund FloGas(former BP)

Wondering if any forum members have had this issue. I had a BP(labelled) metal gas cylinder few years ago when I had to pay 32 GBP deposit for the cylinder.
Now the company says they no longer re-fill the cylinder and also they won't give any money back that was paid as deposit when I got it.
There must be thousands of cylinders out there. Have they just pocketed the money which was taken as 'Deposit' and the customers are now left with 'scrap' metal:eek:?
