Hi,
Firstly, many thanks for your time and i am sorry if this has been covered many times before, i am at work at the moment, i have read through some of the posts related but i can not quite figure all this out.
I have been told recently to try and figure out if i am owed any money from the banks or credit card companies i have used in the past however i have a big problem, i do not have ANY paper work at all from the past.
Every one on here tells you to do your PPI claims by yourself, use these help sheets or whatever but it is all so confusing, how can i fill out a sheet or write a letter if i have no idea what i am trying to do? It seems you need a degree in law or finance to sort all this out?
Is there a good company that anyone can suggest, other than this forum, who maybe able to help me out? I have no idea how to find out what i have had loans and credit cards wise, never mind if i am able to claim anything.
How far back can you usually find all your information with a bank etc? Is there any firms/companies out there that can figure out all your finacial history during the last 20 years or so?
If anyone can help me then i would appreciate it alot or atleast guide me to a decent PPI Reclaim company?
Many thanks
Phil.

Hi Phil, I only jumped on this site to put a review on about Harringtons Advisory who helped me get my PPI back. Even though I already went through a ppi claim directly with Barclays, I was advised that I may have received a payment which is far less than what I was owed!?!?! After 8 weeks I got another cheque through the door for £586 which was a nice surprise. Anyway, in regards to your scenario, I told Harringtons Advisory that I had another load but couldn't find the account details, they told me they didn't need these as they have strong relationships with the bank, lo and behold they got all my account details from the bank and are finally making progress with the claim.
I've read the reviews on Harringtons but I'm just giving you my personal experience with them that's all.0 -
I suspect Harringtons "strong relationship" with the bank consisted of writing to the bank and asking if you had any other loans or perhaps splashing out £10 on an SAR.0

DavidGoliath,
Many thanks for your info, anything would help as it is a mine field all of this PPI Claims etc, i have no idea where to start esp when i have no paperwork from years ago due to keeping a clean household due to little storage space.
I have never heard of the company however it seems they have treated you well? Maybe they are worth looking at.
Many thanks for your advice and do you have any more to share eg how it proceeds, what to look out for etc?

What is an SAR?0

You do not need a PPI reclaim Company and also the whole thread here looks fishy with a new poster asking about PPI Companies only for another newbie to recommend one. Very suspicious indeed.0

How we live in a suspicious world, what is fishy about me asking what needs to be done when you look through this forum only to find over 1000 pages of threads going on about so much i have no idea what is what?
Thanks for your help Stevie, not!!!0 -

I have never heard of all these sayings like SAR, i am going to look that up as i have no idea what it is meant to be.
I am a total beginner to all this so i have to learn from the very beginning, not like alot of you guys who seem to be season pro's?0 -
they told me they didn't need these as they have strong relationships with the bank
The only ones the banks know about are the ones on their blacklist who they know put in dodgy complaints. No bank would have any pro-active relationship with a claims company.I have never heard of the company however it seems they have treated you well? Maybe they are worth looking at.
Another example of someone being conned by a spammer.Every one on here tells you to do your PPI claims by yourself, use these help sheets or whatever but it is all so confusing, how can i fill out a sheet or write a letter if i have no idea what i am trying to do? It seems you need a degree in law or finance to sort all this out?
The PPI issue is about you having a complaint. Its not about having PPI. There is actually nothing wrong with having PPI. its all about whether it was sold to you correctly or not.
To make a complaint you need no degree in law or finance. You phone the bank and give them the reasons for your complaint. Or you fill in the FOS form which is a questionnaire and prompts you for info. You send that to the bank. Or you write a letter to the bank which is short and to the point. You can bullet point your complaint reasons.
All a claims company does is fill out their equivalent of the FOS form by asking you the same questions and they post it to the same address you would use and then sit back and do nothing. A very expensive stamp if your complaint is successful. Is there a good company that anyone can suggest
You are after the shiniest poo.Is there any firms/companies out there that can figure out all your finacial history during the last 20 years or so?
Your data for the last 20 years is not in the public domain. So, no.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -
FOS form?
What is that0
