Having experienced similar queuing nonsense before, I'm soooooooo glad that my local council run cinema was built out from 1 to 3 screens last year, and now shows all the current releases (used to be about 6 months behind). Half the price of the national chains, easy to book online, and you can take a genuinely good quality coffee, beer or wine in with you. Plus it all gets discounted 15% if you're a local resident.

I swear I'm never going to an Odeon, Vue or similar ever again.

Have you thought about buying your tickets online before leaving home?

That doesn't help at our Odeon if you also want to buy a drink/popcorn because, in their infinite wisdom, tickets and food are both sold from the same till points. So you go to the self service machines and collect your tickets ...... then get in a queue with those who don't have tickets just so that you can buy a drink. Because they are selling both it takes a darned sight longer than 4 minutes per transaction. I now try to take my own drink/snack for the sproglet.

What makes it worse is that the cinema is not even 6 months old, so there is zero chance this system will be changed any time soon.

Vue cinema do allocated cinema so every customer will be deciding exactly where they want to sit. It's very tedious.

Do they not have the machines there that let you pick your seat and pay? I always use them in vue as they reduce the hassle!

1600 posts on a money saving forum and you haven't heard of saynoto0870?

    Wow!
Doesn't mean that there's a valid alternate number there.

Or that the 0870 number terminates in an 01/02/03 number at all because it's possible for a company to get an 0870 for their business that connects directly to their exchange system without an option for the alternate number.

Then again, recognising that OP said "My Club Lloyds" would lead you to the website: https://www.clublloyds.com/pages/rewards.aspx which leads you to Vue Cinemas.

Following on from this, say no to 0870 happens to list:

    Vue Cinemas 0871 224 0240 0345 308 4620 Customer Services

So there IS an alternative number for Vue Cinemas, but alas I have no idea what the charges are for each number!

I think 0871 charges may be similar to those for 0870s.

0345 should be included in your call package now (it takes over from 0845 in a lot of cases).
