Admiral Multicar & Kindle Fire HD

Hi All,
I know this offer has now ended but I thought I'd let you know of my disappointing experience of it...
I read with interest on the weekly MSE about the Kindle offer and having only taken out multi car insurance with them the day before I rang up to see if I would be entitled. As per the terms, I went to them direct for a quote, I didn't go via a comparison site and I took the policy out well within the dates of the offer.
Initially when I called Admiral, like the user above stated, they knew nothing about it but after being put on hold a few times they came back and said yes I would get a Kindle but to give it at least 28 days before chasing it up if not received, so I waited...
And waited....
Over a week ago I chased up again and was told I should give it up to 30 days, not 28 days but I advised them that it had now been well over both of these time frames. She checked again.
She couldn't see a record apart from the initial conversation with the first agent whom said I would get one but advised she would have to check with the Marketing Dept and come back to me. She did come back to me and advise the Marketing Dept were on the other line, they would look into it and she would call me back in a few minutes.
After waiting a further 3 days, I chased it up, only to be old by another agent the notes said they she will be calling me back the next day.
The next day came and went and I chased again, this time I spoke to a heavy Asian accented chap whom advised me that his name was 'John' ?? He was obviously reading the same notes above when I was told that the previous adviser is 'monitoring the situation' but now he could not advise when she was to call me back but despite that, he was very interested in how my day was and wishing me a very pleasant day at the end of the call too!
Some 5 days later, I have today received a call saying that I won't be getting one after all..!
Apparently it was a special offer only through MSE but despite me following the terms of the offer (not the link) and being advised by the first agent that I would get one and to wait 28 days for it, I actually won't be getting one now.
If anything, this has shown me what terrible customer service Admiral provide and I would hate to be needing to deal with them on an official claim basis if this is an example of how they treat their customers regarding advice given and call back promises missed.
I wish I'd have paid in installments, so I could cancel the policy and take my business elsewhere but I have told them to take the auto renewal off my policy instead, has Admiral will not be getting a second years business out of me!!
I suppose I could cancel regardless but I'm sure they'll have some 'terms' that go in their favor about cancellation fees and such and I will also lose the part building up of my additional years no claims bonus too.
Cheers and thanks for reading my rant!0 -
P Smith - The idea of the promotion is to get more customers for Admiral Insurance. You signed up to them before you saw the promotion and didn't use the link. So you really can't expect them to give you the kindle.0

Takman - Thanks for your response, however if you read my posting correctly and get off your 'Defender of the Large Insurance Corporations' pedestal, you will read the following:
'I read with interest on the weekly MSE about the Kindle offer and having only taken out multi car insurance with them the day before I rang up to see if I would be entitled. As you can see, by this first conversation I was told that I would get one and to wait the appropriate length of time for delivery. This is what they told me, I did not hold a gun to their head nor did I say that I had taken out the policy via the link in the MSE e-mail.
I asked a question, they gave me an answer so actually yes, I do expect them to then abide by that response and give me a Kindle!
The fact that they did not live up to that, all in all equates to pretty poor service in my books! Not once did I get an apology from the later advisor, for what would appear in the grand scheme of things, incorrect advice provided to me by the first advisor.
If they had said "I'm sorry, you're not entitled to one" to start off with, I would've thought fair enough but glad I had asked the question, instead this was not the case.
As for your kind explanation of the term 'promotion', I refer you to the Quote below:
"Repeat business or behavior can be bribed. Loyalty has to be earned."
Ergo, Admiral will not be getting a renewal out of me!0 -

TBH you were probably just fed a line by the original service agent who didn't know how these things work. Admiral probably have little to do with this and a third-party affiliate company will be the ones tracking and sending out the Kindles. If you didn't use the link then I suspect you didn't follow the terms of the offer - just getting a quote from them direct, especially as it may have been before the offer started, wasn't the offer. MSE don't do these things for the good of their health, they would've made a cut from it. So no using the link, no cut for MSE, no Kindle.0 -
Agree with above. If you don't follow the link then you're not tracked and you don't get the offer.
I did follow the link, and when I got to the stage of calling up to purchase the insurance, I asked the call centre person about the Kindle offer. He hesitated and then said yes but it seemed to me that he knew nothing about it and was just blagging it, probably just assuming that I'd used a promotional link to generate my quote.
I've not received the Kindle yet and I'm not particularly holding my breath either.
P Smith- I wouldn't loose too much sleep over it though. I see your point but you've probably got cheap insurance that you would've had to buy anyway and the tablets are pretty cheap and not exactly the best out there. Although I understand your frustration.
You could send an email to the previously quoted address and see if they can do something for you.0 -
Hi All,
Yes, I'm fully aware that I did not follow the relevant link but as the offer appeared only the day after I purchased the Insurance with Admiral, I was basically going down the route of 'If you don't ask, you don't get'.
I have no doubt NOW that the first Agent was feeding me a line and yes I'm aware I haven't followed all the terms to the letter but as mentioned previously, I contacted them, I explained the situation and then simply asked, 'would I be entitled to a free Kindle'. I was told yes I would, so I stupidly expected them to honor that.
The Kindle itself is neither here nor there now, I was only going to give it to my Wife when it arrived anyway (and yes she did know this and I wasn't blagging it as a gift for her!). I'm also sure that even if it reportedly costs £79 retail, there was a shed load of them purchased for this offer and they no where near cost MSE / Admiral this price, which makes their failure to live up to their first Agents advice even more offensive.
All this however has now been lost on the way I have been given poor customer service during the events that followed my initial contact and the reason why I will not be re-insuring with Admiral.
Also yes I did need to take the Insurance out on my one car when I did and after checking the usual comparison sites for a single car policy, I opted to try the Multi Car option and went direct to the Admiral site for a quote to see what they would come up with and it would also save me the hassle of organising x3 separate motor polices every year for my household.
I must say though, in relation to other single car quotes for my main car, they were definitely not the cheapest but to be fair, they weren't the most expensive either. If it gets the other two cars under the same umbrella for an overall saving though, then I'm happy to accept that. I won't however see if there is an actual benefit going with Multi Car Insurance until the renewal comes through next year or I approach another provider when all three cars will be up and due for a full 12 month term policy. So only then will I know if it's a benefit and I'm sure that knowing how Insurance Companies treat existing customers, the price will no doubt rocket on the renewal because they then think you won't haggle or cancel and change back to single policies because of the extra hassle...
How wrong could they be?! :rotfl:
Cheers! :beer:0 -
Just an update to anyone who, like me, has been anticipating arrival of their Kindle...
Mine turned up last Friday 16th October, without prior notice or acknowledgement whatsoever - so fear not!
To give a rough idea of timeframe, my Policy Start Date was 18th Sept, so almost the full 'upto 30 days' past before its arrival.
Hope this gives others some peace of mind!

Ahoy MSE.
I took out a multi-car policy on the 26th of September via the MSE link, got the confirmation popup, bought the policy and we're now at day 31 with no Kindle received.
The offer has now changed to a £70 Amazon voucher, and annoyingly that ostensibly started on 12th September 2015, before I took out my policy.
The T&Cs for the new offer are on the Admiral site at (sorry, I can't post the link verbatim) admiral.com / multi-car-insurance/MSE-70/TC.php
However, I'm pretty sure it was the Kindle offer that I was presented with, although being a trusting sort, I didn't take screenshots or copy the T&Cs.
I don't suppose anyone has a link to the URL for the Kindle Fire offer on the Admiral site?
I've fired in a complaint to Admiral today, I'm just gearing up for the inevitable "Whotcyo talkin' 'bout, Willis?" response.
Kind regards,
-Roger-0 -
Ive bought my insurance policy on 21st of Sept, did exactly the same, follow the link then phoned in to buy and popup window was telling me that my application was tracking and so far nothing and its been over a month now....
dissapointed a bit and not sure should i hope that will eventually received it or not or what can we actually do to chase that matter?
Kind regards

Well, good news!
After sending a complaint to quality at-symbol admiral.com (their 'complaints' address) today explaining the situation and giving my policy number and details, I've just received an email from "Avinity" (via dpd.co.uk) promising delivery of a mystery package this Thursday!
I know that it's initiated by Admiral as the email was sent to the unique address that I created specifically for use with that Admiral policy.
Sadly, it's not good news for me, since the package is apparently going to a different person at a different address!
So I have their details and can infer that they're an Admiral customer. Presumably they'll be getting my Kindle Fire, which I hope is a nice surprise for them. It's not much use to me though.
I've followed up my complaint, which now has a nice data protection component to it.
Nice one, Admiral.0
