Please don't post absolute nonsense.
If Type 2 Diabetes was caused by being overweight then millions more would have the condition and the hundreds of thousands who have the disease whoi are not overweight would be cured.
Type 2 Diabetes is a metabolic condition.

Of course there is a complex interaction between genetics and environmental factors, as with many conditions. You can't do much about being South Asian or having a parent with diabetes, but you can make an effort to control your weight, which is a clear trigger. They are an EYESORES!!!!0 -
People will still want these 'bad' foods- why aren't they (or high sugar / fat / salt content) banned, if so harmful?
Because the UK isn't a totalitarian state. At some level, people must be allowed to make their own choices even if they aren't optimal at a societal level.
After banning sugar we ban hang gliding and downhill mountain biking and crossing the road without a hi vis jacket and driving after 10pm when we may be a bit more tired.
People are, or at least should be, free to do things you don't like just as you should be free to do things that others don't like. IMHO and all that of course.0 -

Rather than link to a website which like the NHS tells diabetics to eat starchy carbohydrates which only make their diabetes worse and leads to all the complications that end upo costing the NHS billions how about reading some proper peer reviewed scientific research into Diabetes. I know you won't read any of it, as your bigoted mind is already made up, but you if you had read it you would know that;
Genetic factors have been proven to decrease insulin sensitivity in people with certain gene types, and that insulin sensitivity often leads to obesity. So it is the disease thjat causes the obesity, not the other way around.
You would find that white caucasian people with the genes TCF7L2, HNF4-a, PTPN, SHIP2, ENPP1, PPARG, FTO, KCNJ11, NOTCh3, WFS1, CDKAL1, IGF2BP2, SLC30A8, JAZF1, and HHEX will almost certainly develop Type 2 Diabetes.

Please don't post absolute nonsense.
.....
Already pointed that out in post #18.:)Strangely enough, all of those foods would be bad for a Type 2 Diabetic to consume.
Already pointed out in post #19.:)
Don't people realise that fresh fruit is absolutely jam-packed with sugar?0 -
I do wonder why we are continually told healthy food is expensive it's not only bananas that are cheap...
Here is the chemical composition of a banana - 75% water, 12% sugar, and lots of E-numbers.:)

There is a clear correlation between obesity and type 2 diabetes. But was we all know, correlation does not prove causation.
The truth about diabetes is that we currently do not really understand why it happens.0 -

Clearly the possesion of a degree in biology does not neccessarily confer any expertise in human pathology.:)0
