i was going to say no but really I'm not sure. At his age the DWP would expect him to be able to strip and change his own bed unless he has other disabilities.

If you were successful for DLA then the family fund would probably give you a voucher for linens and possibly for a new washing machine/dryer if needed.

Does anyone know why he is still bed wetting?

no not yet all this time they have always said he was just lazy but now they are going to start doing more tests on him to find out why he is still doing it at his age

As far as I am aware DLA is now PIP and it is for mobility needs. Not for replacement of sheets, washing machines etc.

There could be other help available but don't know of any apart from scouring car boot sales for sheets etc.

Primark or charity shops for cheap pyjamas, but even washing them every day they should still last a good while.

    Hope he gets sorted.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

PIP is only for over 16s. DLA for children remains unchanged.

It's difficult without an underlying cause. If it's just bed wetting and nothing else it's really unlikely to get DLA, I think you need a DLA award to get anything from the family fund. Their website doesn't stipulate this, just that they help families on income based benefits who have a disabled or severely ill child who is under 17 so maybe try to apply direct to them? i have no idea how they define disabled, I thought it was through a DLA award but I've not helped with a FF application for over 7 years now.

The NHS won't cover it as they could provide pads or sheets to prevent damage but no 14 year old is going to want to wear what is essentially a nappy.

Social work would most likely refer you to the continence nurse and again they'd likely send you back to the NHS.

If I think of any other charities I'll post them, there's something at the back of my head and it won't come forward.

No I vaguely remember a children's charity for night wetting who had a fund for bedding and gave support accessing services like counselling for under 16s but I can't remember the name of wether it was a big charity or a local one.

Poor lad, especially to have been written off as lazy, there's surely got to be more too it than that (or a better way of describing it!)
