I have just found little quiz about phishing. it gives you examples of e-mails and you have to say are they real or are they fake.
Here is the quiz.
I will admit that I only got 50% right and I come from an IT background. oops naughty me.
Hope it helps someone.

whoop whoop 100% just look at the hover over ip in the bottom, this kinda obv then...
1. if its has https:// and same domain as comp sending then its going to be them
2. if it is a subdomain of the proper company then it could be them
if its a random domain or an ip address then its bound to be a fraud and note the one clever one i think was barclays.biz or something like that...kinda stuck out but if unsure visit barclays.biz and see whats there (if barclays have a .com address though they really wouldnt "push" there biz one)0 -

Must be hard being perfect.
It is of course so obvious, that is why hundreds of people get caught like this a day. Because they don't know.
Next time I will think twice about posting in effort to be helpful, as it seems this board is only for people for know everything. I thought it was about helping people of all abilities.

Got 90%, but was overly cautious and said one that was legit was phishing. The more worrying new form of online fraud is 'Pharming' when criminals poision Name Servers on the internet to direct you from a legitimate web address to a fake site. Problem is that Name Servers are a weak point in internet design, so the issue is not easy to tackle.0

Thanks Calley... I thought it was very useful. Unfortunately I've already been caught out by a 'phisher' but for those who haven't .......'fore-warned is fore-armed' (as my Granny used to say!)0

I got 70 %
Though I have to say, I've received lots of these. I NEVER click a link in them, if any are relevant to me, which few are, I always open a new window and log in from there with the direct web address.
Very useful calley, thanks!0 -

nah it might have been me. As I don't think I was having a good day for some reason. Not sure why.
And I was a little raw around the edges and I just must have read it the wrong way.

I did this from the Discussion or MSA board recently (or was there a link to here - don't remember). That time I scored 30% because I chose No Answer. Presumably the quiz counts this as don't know, when I reckoned I meant I wouldn't answer the email, so would have still been ok.
So thanks to Calley for finding it and Neil for explaining it a bit more. I don't have any online financial details yet anyway, and I 'd also be thinking of protecting such info in case the computer was stolen.0
