    Yep phoned them up late afternoon they documented the case and will phone us tomorrow afternoon/evening.

    His van is insured as I did an online check.

    If that's his van in the pic with the reg showing, then you'd be wise to delete it.

    Most (if not all) motor insurance policies only cover third party damage that arose due to an accident involving the insured vehicle and I would be surprised if the insurers defined someone not taking enough care when painting as an insurable accident.

    Most (if not all) motor insurance policies only cover third party damage that arose due to an accident involving the insured vehicle and I would be surprised if the insurers defined someone not taking enough care when painting as an insurable accident.

    Agreed.
    And even worse is now you need to declare an 'incident' for the next 5 years. Shot yourself in the foot really - if you didn't plan on making a claim that is anyway
