So he either has to do it or it just simply doesn't get done. I'm dreading him going for assessment as he's extremely delusional and has a hell of a temper on him with the least little thing- his behaviour is very anti social and I guess that's where his points would come from.

    Neglecting stuff.
Just because you can survive sitting naked on the toilet with a pile of biscuits and coke next to you does not mean that the requirement to be able to do things does not arise.

To sum up a complex area - in short - you're not looking at what the person is actually trying to do alone.
You're looking at what a person without their disabilities in their circumstances might try to do, and comparing the ability of the claimant to do these tasks while using the appropriate aids.

Is it possible for you to go with?
Is it possible for you to write a diary about the tasks outlined in the descriptors, and the problems attempting them, or when they have been avoided due to not being able to do them, despite a need?

When OH was granted DLA, he needed a lot more care. Now he has to care for me. He still needs help with things but nine times out of ten doesn't get it because I'm not well enough to help him. So he either has to do it or it just simply doesn't get done. I'm dreading him going for assessment as he's extremely delusional and has a hell of a temper on him with the least little thing- his behaviour is very anti social and I guess that's where his points would come from. I've just been awarded Standard Daily Living for mental health issues and would be happy to say sometimes I can't cope with him but unfortunately the past couple of times he's seen his psychiatrist he's actually been ok.

You, as well as what rogerblack as has told you above, also need to consider that to claim PIP, you only need the help 50% of the time. This may make it easier for your OH claim? Under DLA, you needed help I think it was nearer 70% of the time.

I will have to go with him because he refuses to go to an appointment alone. That's really stressful for me as my own anxieties and fatigue cause a nightmare. That's a really good idea about the diary actually. I've just thought about the budgeting thing- he ended up in massive mortgage arrears as the bank screwed up his account and my dyscalculia meant I couldn't really help with the figures. Physically he's as fit as a flea but mentally he isn't.
