Are The People On DLA Life Awards Still Getting Re-Assessed Starting October?

Just wondered if this is still the date? as there is usually a delay around Christmas..

And can I find which area is getting re-assessed first?

I've not heard any different. But I won't be surprised if there will be delays.

    It's started.
To quote from the press release:
'DWP will start to invite all remaining claimants from 13 July. This means people who currently have a long-term or indefinite award of DLA.
We will do this over a period of around two years, starting with people in postcodes BB, BL, DE, LE, M, OL, PR, ST, WA, WN.

By late 2017, all existing DLA claimants aged 16 to 64 on 8 April 2013 will have been invited to claim PIP
    .'

The postcodes are scattered around manchester, going as far south as Leeds, and as far north as Bradford.
    Mostly Manchester and easterly.

'Invited' here means 'If you do not respond to the invitation, your DLA award will be terminated, and you will not be paid any more'.

People receiving DLA or AA over the age of 64 at 8th April 2013 are not at this time affected.

It is my personal belief that this is likely to change, and this change be announced around mid 2016.

    https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/437756/timetable-for-pip-replacing-dla.pdf

For your migration onto PIP - you want to look at the individual PIP descriptors.
    http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/england/benefits_e/benefits_sick_or_disabled_people_and_carers_ew/benefits_personal_independence_payment_e/benefits_the_pip_assessment_e/pip_activities_descriptors_and_points.htm

Remembering that every descriptor has to be doable:
In under twice the time of a comparable fit person AND
Repeatably - that is - as often as reasonably required AND
Reliably - to an acceptable level of performance. AND
Safely - without risk to him or others. AND
not being unable to do the thing on more than 50% of days.

Read the descriptors carefully, and see if there is any way anyone could argue that they apply - even if it doesn't make much sense as to what they are 'really' for.

It is probably sensible to start gathering evidence now, if your condition is long-standing.

It appears I'm in one of the postcodes that included inviting some existing DLA claimants to apply for PIP in May 2015. So far I've had nothing through the post, so I'm assuming I'm not one of the some. I guess therefore that I'll probably receive my invitation by late 2017 at the latest, but it could arrive at any time. No idea how to tell if I'm in the some category :)

What happens to my claim during the changeover process? I get LRM & LRC at the moment, & need to look into how the descriptors may apply to me as I'm partially sighted, & have been warned by a support worker that I may not be partially sighted enough to get PIP.

So do my DLA payments continue until a decision is reached about PIP, or would they stop while my case is considered? If they continue but I'm not awarded PIP would I then need to pay back the DLA I'd received?

Just need to look at budgeting as I'm already going to lose a lot in April due to CTC/WTC changes, & I want to plan ahead. Thanks in advance.
And I find that looking back at you gives a better view, a better view...

Not quite right, ST is Stoke/Staffs, DE is Derbyshire and I live on LE which is Leicestershire. So it goes North West and part of the Midlands.
Almost certain OH will lose his DLA so dreading the 'invitation' landing :(

You won't have to pay back anything. You're entitled to DLA until the day they tell you no.

You, in general, only pay back any benefits you've claimed which you're not entitled to.

Thanks - that was what I was hoping would happen.

Really not looking forward to all the whole process - hoping that they'll at least supply the paperwork in large print! That seems to be the battle I'm having with many companies at the moment, & they didn't send large print last time so I had to get someone else to help me with it. I don't want to have to ask someone again & think I should have the right to be able to do it myself.
And I find that looking back at you gives a better view, a better view...

Read carefully the descriptors posted in the message you quote.
Can he do all the descriptors - with all of the 'AND's.

Some people who have been granted DLA on the basis of needing watching over may find it initially difficult to see how they'd qualify.
Going into details about if they can do each descriptor reliably, as often as needed, safely, and within twice the normal time - may make this rather easier.

Does anyone know the financial statistics of the transfer from DLA to PIP ?
ie) How many losers are there ?
How many gainers as well ?

I am confused by the "moving around" descriptors and how they will apply to me
I cannot comfortably move more than 10 metres without my leg brace - but with it, I can move over 200 metres !!!
So e. applies - unaided but not aided - is that my choice or theirs ?

    2. Moving around

My wife receives her 'invite' a while ago and the turn around was very quick!

She was refused both components despite being a paralysed wheelchair user who cannot cook, dress, wash or toilet without assistance. So now the only curiosity, can the PIP appeal manage to be longer and more stupid than DLA? Lets see if this time we are sent to six buildinga that don't have wheelchair access!

When OH was granted DLA, he needed a lot more care. Now he has to care for me. He still needs help with things but nine times out of ten doesn't get it because I'm not well enough to help him. So he either has to do it or it just simply doesn't get done. I'm dreading him going for assessment as he's extremely delusional and has a hell of a temper on him with the least little thing- his behaviour is very anti social and I guess that's where his points would come from. I've just been awarded Standard Daily Living for mental health issues and would be happy to say sometimes I can't cope with him but unfortunately the past couple of times he's seen his psychiatrist he's actually been ok.
