Does anybody know anything about Hard Disc Drives.

a machine can boot without any hard disk in place
how did you accidentally delete the boot sector, and what does this message say
At first the screen stays black and blank, then as it is trying to boot, I get the words Boot fail .. that happens twice then the screen changes to blue and the message on it say ... Your Computer needs repair ... it mentions discs .. but of course they do not work .... then it says things like ... get in touch with the manufacturer. No keys work on the keyboard and the laptop switches itself off after a few minutes.0 -

Have you turned disabled Secure Boot and switched on Compatibility Mode in the BIOS setup?0

You absolutely should not buy a new hard drive and certainly not at that price! Just cancel the order or reject it at delivery.
If you really wanted a new drive, you could have gone for a Samsung SSD 850 EVO 250GB for £72.59
You have made a very poor decision. but you can reverse it. You don't need a new hard drive at all.0
