Then you should have done that in the first place instead of making a forum thread about it.....

You don't quite understand how forums work, do you?

Ashley - yes i did get an email asking to call them...... they needed to 'verify' my name as I previously held a product with them (ISA) using the 'abbreviated' version of my christian name.

Now waiting for the usccess/failue email....

Martym8 - I saw comments in other threads (from you I think.....) recommending applying in branch and was going to, but the latest incentive including the 'dine in for 2' voucher is only available via links from moneysupermarket or moneysavingexpert links.....

You can apply on line via MS/MSE - and then do any follow up paperwork/ID (which is often required for M&S) plus the switching request in branch.

I did that - and got the £125 MSE/MS gift card offer at the time. If I had done the ID etc by post I really think they would have turned me down - the branch staff pushed my case with HQ.

They couldn't ID me of course electronically - despite being a long term HSBC and FD customer!

If you apply in branch you still get the £100 - you just miss out on the extra £10 M&S dine for two. But I would rather the £100 gift card - than nothing.
