Cost dying hair in a salon?

Hi,
Can anyone tell me the cost of dying my hair at a salon? My mum has always done it for me but my hair is quite long now and it's a lot of work, and I'll make a mess of it if I try to do it myself..
It's just to cover the white hairs, nothing fancy.
Thanks!

It all depends on the salon, location & what type of colour you want (permanent, semi-permanent) etc. I have in the past paid over £100 for a cut & colour in quite an expensive area. I now go to my local hair & beauty college and pay £15 for the same, although this is only term time & can be dependant on what the students need for their portfolios.
Some salons post their prices on their websites or Facebook pages, just do a google search for 'hairdressers/hair salons' in your area.MFW 2016 #32 £1574.66/£1500:j:j0 -
How much do you want to pay? If you give an idea of location (and change your title) you'll no doubt get some recommendations.0

Thanks, I'm in Surrey (Guildford area). I paid £10 2 weeks ago as a model, it was brilliant but sadly they only do this midweek and I can't go before 6 as I work full time, I only did it because I was on holidays.
I would pay maybe up to £30? It's something I need to do every 6 weeks so more than that it's too much..0 -
As said it depends on the salon - there is no fixed price for it. I'd just look up a few on your area from perhaps Wahanda and ask them about their prices.ally.0

I live in your area, and I don't think you will find anyone to dye long hair for £30. My local salon does a semi permanent colour for £35 with a junior, but that's the cheapest they do on their price list, and the price might be higher if you have long hair.
If I were you I would just buy a box dye and do that, it will be much less expensive and hard to mess up, I used the John Frieda foam hair colour on a friend and It turned out really well and was very easy to apply.

Thanks cherysurrey, I'll probably have to do that.. I've been using the supermarket ones for years, but it's difficult to do it myself
If you are interested the place I went was very good and it costs £10. (the only problem you need to be able to go Wed/Thu at 16:00).0 -
If you're just getting the roots done it might not cost that much? But I would think Surrey is quite an expensive area.
How about a home hairdresser? They are often a lot cheaper, because they don't have the overheads that salons have.left the forum due to trolling/other nonsense

Some salons have offers on certain days, so it is worth checking them out. I doubt however you would get your hair coloured for £30. Last time I had mine done I paid £132. Though that did include a facial, eye brow wax and cut n blow dry as well as the colour. Every 6 weeks seems quite often to be honest.Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.0

Have you thought about your local college? Trainee hairdressers, they are a bit slow but very well supervised and its really good value.0
