Problem with application TSB
Comments

Hi all, I have similar problem with TSB. The account is opened, i set Paypal direct debit to it and because of that Paypal transfered £0.01 with the verification code in the transaction reference.
Right after that I received letter that I need to bring ID to nearest TSB branch to verify my identity. I tried to send money to my TSB account, but transaction is refused, i think my account is in state known as "barred" or something.
I opened the account because of the switch incentive, but I am abroad for the next month, so cannot verify it instantly, do you think that I can start the switching process, even if my account is in the current state? Thank you in advance
Account opening is a completely separate process to account switching. You can't start an account switch until the account opening application process (including ID verification etc.) has been completed. Your account has had an indicator (code 646) put on it blocking any transactions until ID has been completed which prevents you from switching into it.0 -

Hi Ed and thank you for your reply. Are you sure about this code 646, because i am able to login into my internet banking, also i can set direct debits. During the switch i will not transfer any money, just the direct debits from my old account.0 -
A 646 won't prevent you from accessing Internet banking.DEBT FREE!
Debt free by Xmas 2014: £3555.67/£4805.67 (73.99%)
Debt free by Xmas 2015: £1250/£1250 (100.00%)0 -

From the information you've given I'm certain. You shouldn't be able to set up direct debits after the indicator was applied (it would've taken a few days or so for them to apply the indicator after they'd reviewed ID etc.) but any direct debits set up before the 646 was applied would have sneaked onto the account OK.0
