    1. An estate agent is not in a position to be handing out dates. It will all depend on the solicitors and how long it takes to get all the information together, from a variety of directions.

    2. Never trust anyone who says they will move out for you. My SIL paid an additional £1000 on the basis her seller would move into rented. She exchanged yesterday, three weeks late, after her seller found a house to buy and played catch up. I'm not sure whether she is getting the £1000 back but I know the EA was as peed off as my SIL. Same happened to me in my last purchase. Divorce. Husband already bought, wife going into rented. Again at the 11th hour when sols discussing dates it came to light she now had an onward purchase.

    ^as Holploz.

Our vendors would 'move in with family', but changed their minds.
  • You could start looking at other properties and if you find something you like go for that instead.

You're not getting your money back but presumably if they're suddenly in a position to exchange you'd be happy to proceed. So you may as well leave it open as a option whilst you seek out another purchase. If there's nothing else worth buying then your best (and only other than not buying) option is to wait.

It's not the nicest way to behave but then if they've been messing you around you don't have much incentive to be nice.

Some vendors are slippery as an eel too.

This EA sounds like an arrogant sprat. Someone needs to knock them off their perch.
