SD Card - " folder empty " - but there are pictures (Windows 10)

Options
Recently upgraded to windows 10 ( worked fine last time used on Windows 8 ) , now when a plug my camera in , it will show the SD card , show the correct remaining and total space of SD card.

When i click the SD card, says "folder empty" , but obviously it is not

Tried another SD card , get exactly the same.
Formatted the SD card, took a few photos, plugged back in to laptop, still the same result " folder empty"

What are you using to view the folder? Is it Explorer or a piece of software that came with the camera?

What's the camera, and have you reinstalled up to date drivers for it onto Windows 10?

Weird. I've not had any issues and I've used a NIkon camera to take photos and managed to edit them without issue on Windows 10 LightRoom.

I put the SD card direct into SD reader in the laptop.

    What computer/laptop are you using?

How big is the SD card? Could it be the default drivers in Windows 10 for the card reader in use cannot see SDHC cards?

Normally yous not even see the card, but its possible it can only read part of the card, such as the file structure and nothing else.

Maybe the card reader has been misidentified and the wrong driver loaded, say a generic one rather than a modified one by the laptops maker, and you need the updated driver form the maker to see the full capacity.

Have you tried a card reader to the laptop, or if it has it the card slot in the laptop itself?
Have you tried the card in another laptop?

Exactly what make and model is the laptop if you are using the laptops card slot.?

Trying to isolate if its the card, camera or laptop.

SD camera cards are normally formatted as FAT32.

If you have a spare SD card, try formatting it in Windows 10 and then copy a photo to it to see if it then appears in Windows Explorer.

Happened to me and I found it halfway up the tree as though it was one of the library folders.
